Perfectly located beautiful renovated old building. Very comfy and big living room with an open kitchen. Beds are very comfortable, bathroom is clean with a good working shower. Host is a company, but was immediately available wien I called and very friendly and helpful. Very nice location.

It's an old monastery that is the hallmark of the village.

It's an old monastery that is the hallmark of the village. The village is about one millenium years and has a fortress ruin overlooking it all. The forests and mountainous hills all around is a magic place for hikes and discovering amazing castles and churches.

Durnstein is a strange village; the old centre is attractive and interesting, but you get a feeling that it's a ghost town. It seems to exist for day trippers, and it doesn't have a life of its own. The only shops are tourist shops - no pharmacies, no grocery shops, no stationeries selling newspapers and magazines.... Some eateries close by 6pm and after that, it really is a ghost town.

Unfortunately there were some problems... .

Unfortunately there were some problems... . The WiFi inside the room did not work. I have asked twice and it was fixed but for just a few hours... so I had to use my data plan on my phone. Bed was very uncomfortable. It was a double bad but... with some board in the middle, with one side of bed being higher than the other part and squicking on every move in the bed. The only way I could shower was if I was holding the shower had in my hand..... which made it impossible to wash properly my heir and.... water was splushing from defecting shower head. Breakfast was great.... people were very nice but... I would not stay in this hotel again.

I stayed here with my wife, two young daughters, and my in-laws. We stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful experience. Everyone was so helpful and service oriented. The pool was perfect for us to relax in. The food is excellent at the restaurant and the views along the Danube are gorgeous.

Amazing hotel with great atmosphere. Everything was just wonderful. Lady at the reception was friendly and helpful. Staff in the restaurant was very kind, food was extraordinary and live music on Friday evening? What a nice surprise. Room and bathroom were like from the real castle. I was travelling with two kids and nothing was the problem, bed for the son, crib for the little one, they even got some nice presents. We didn't have time for swimming pool, but we will definitely try it next time.

The hotel is a historical building that used to be serve as an Abby. It is such a beautiful building decorated with historical artifacts. The gardens and the restaurant although understated, are beautiful with view of the Danube river and vineyards all around. We hired bikes from the hotel and there are so many bike routes to take to go to nearby villages. or simple ride by the river.
