It's in an ideal location just off the motorway. A 25 minute stroll along the river (it would be lovely in summer - not so much fun in the rain!) takes you to the historical centre of Linz.
Plenty of free parking around, although I suspect that depends on the time of year.
There's a fabulous large terrace that overlooks the Danube, which would be a great place to sit in warmer weather.
The staff at the hotel are SUPERB! Very friendly and super helpful. I cannot fault them.
Although we booked a comfort room, which is the cheapest option, there is hot water and a wide selection of tea bags available near reception 24 hours, as well as coffee from 06:30-11:00 - and it's all free.
The room itself was large enough (although the bathroom is a bit tight) and has all the amenities you might need. The beds were really comfortable.
The breakfast was lovely: there's something for everyone and you will not leave hungry. In fact, I doubt you could try everything on offer as the selection is that wide. I personally loved the sausages and the homemade fresh fruit salad.

Modern room and very well cleaned bathroom, silent hotel
Surrounded by lush mountains, Linz is on the Danube River, and although known for industry, has become a vibrant cultural hub. It was an important centre of the Holy Roman Empire and Emperor Friedrich III lived in the castle.
The old town centres on Main Square, site of the Christmas market and elaborate Trinity Column. St Martin’s Church is Austria’s oldest, and the largest is the new cathedral, much more elaborate than the old cathedral. On the surrounding streets are shops, restaurants and much of Booking.com’s Linz accommodation, including luxury city centre hotels and cheap guest houses near the train station.
A riverside park contains the Lentos modern art museum, colourfully lit at night. The excellent arts scene also encompasses the Linzer Landestheater, Brucknerhaus concert hall and the Ars Electronica Center which hosts its own festival.
The Design Center Linz event venue is near the industrial powerhouse – the Voestalpine steelworks, whose tour showcases the factory once supervised by Hermann Göring. A more chilling World War II reminder is Mauthausen concentration camp to the south-east.
Across the river are Johannes Kepler University and Pöstlingberg mountain, ascended by a tram that passes the zoo. At the top are a viewing platform, church and the children’s Grotto Railway, and south-west is Linz Blue Danube Airport.

Linz is very nice city in Upper Austria (its capital) with many good preserved baroque buildings. Its perfect destination for art lovers - the city is dedicated to all kind of arts - music, theatre, galleries etc. Linzer Dom (city cathedral) is in my opinion the most beautiful building in city. I have also enjoyed traditional austrian cuisine - I would recommend Keintzel, Stiegl-Klosterhof and Johanns by Winkler. The main reason of my visit was the Christmas market - it was very nice, many nice souvenirs a gifts but I had missed traditional craftsmen like blacksmiths, carpenters or tailors etc. I think that Linz its a nice destination but I think the best option is to make a longer trip to Upper Austria and visit also some of lakes or Kalkalpen national park.

A bit of a boring city to be honest.
A bit of a boring city to be honest. I went to see a concert here. First time to Linz but the city is nothing major. Maybe in the summer it has more charm but from what i experienced it was boring, and one thing i noticed was a lot of smokers. Like... a lot of them. To me it was very annoying. Crowded main street...not very clean. Not much to do in the city. Im sure when there is an even the main square might get interesting, but now when nothing was happening it was very dull. I would not come to this city for a vacation for sure :) sorry. 3 out of 10 for me.

Beautiful city, with many beautiful buildings, old and new, and green spaces; not very touristy, but maybe that's why it's so attractive, it's not bothered by the hordes.
It is a good base for trips to the countryside: Steyr, the lakes of the Salzkammergut, and even Passau. Freizeit Ticket Oberostereich, relaxing one day, at a price of 19.90 euros for two people, is valid throughout the country, ensuring relaxing walks

An industrial city that is reinventing itself as a creative center for the arts and interdisciplinary collaborations. Many students in the city. If you are interested in art and science, check out the Ars Electronica Center, the Franzisco Carolinum and the Lentos Museum.

We spent three days in Linz which was long enough to explore the excellent castle museum, enjoy the art gallery, take the old tram up the hill to look at the view and sit and watch the boats going up and down the river. We would have liked to visit the street art gallery in the old docks, but you can only take a guided tour and none were available during our stay. Linz is a good base for getting out into the countryside and enjoying rambles and nature. The Schloss Museum has a lovely restaurant with a terrace overlooking the river. It's worth making the climb up the hill to sit there with a drink and watch the river!
The city has a very small old centre, but it has an industrial history and is not chocolate box pretty like Salzburg.
