It was a lovely little town with quite a few restaurants on offer on the main street and down by the lake, and a super market over the road from where we were staying. We ate at "Little Italy", lovely pasta. Had breakfast at the bakery by the train station - amazing food! The train station (5 minutes) up the main road was cheap and easy to use to go into Klagenfurt or the other direction of Velden. We booked all our train tickets using trainline app, which was easy too. It was a short walk down to the Lake which came alive in the evening. It also offered people with families a family friendly park to spend the day on the lake. One day we hired scooters and followed the lake until we found a place to swim. Pörtschach is a (touristic) village at the Woerthersee with many restaurants and bars. Excellent for wateractivities but also a good base for walking/hiking. The whole area is perfect for any kind of vacation activity. The seeside is real alpin adria. The city is equipped with everything you need to enjoy your holidays.
