Buckland – 2 hotels and places to stay

Offering free bikes, The Storekeeper's provides accommodations in Buckland. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. Guests can use a bar.

We stayed at the Storekeeper's on our way to Maria island ferry. The house is about 25 min to the ferry, so this is an excellent option if want to catch the 8:30am ferry, especially if there are more than 2 people in your party The house is very homey and comfortable, with a very personal touch, and it has everything for a great stay.

Twamley Farm in Buckland provides accommodations with an open-air bath, a garden, and a bar. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking, and free Wifi.

If you want to stay on a beautiful and historic sheep station, Twamley is for you! There are sheep right outside your window and you can hike for the whole day without leaving the property. The owners are nearby if you have any questions. Staying here 2 1/2years ago is part of what made us want to return to Tas again. And hopefully we will be back in the future!

In addition to providing direct access to a beach and fishing jetty, Eastcoaster Tasmania features an indoor swimming pool, a hot tub, a tennis court and a basketball court.

Wonderful receptionist. The restaurant was excellent. Pleasant walk alongside bay. We had a late arrival and early departure, so we can't give much detail.

The accommodation was lovely, the location was also very nice. The local hotel staff were not very friendly. Buckland is very easy to get around. The local petrol station/shop staff were very friendly and helpful.

This property presents itself as a grand house. The location...

This property presents itself as a grand house. The location is awful - in the middle of scrubby bush, up a bad dirt track, near no towns, or beach, or hill, or stream, or pubs or cafes, or anything. No gardens, no lawns, no car park It is described as in Buckland. Buckland is a tiny village of a half dozen houses. This house is nowhere near it, and is about 12 to 15 k from the village. The house is big, but to call it the Great House is laughable, it looks like someones white elephant. There is a sitting room one can use and the bedroom is upstairs. All of the rest of the house is locked off. This is really a bedroom in a large, badly built, suburban style house. The housekeeper does the best she can- helpful on check-in, and the house is clean and tidy, but this can't compensate for the fact that the location and quality of this property are not up to the description. The outside of the building is run-down, and the whole place looks abandoned. Once you are shown to your room, you are left alone in the property. No TV in the room, no amenities, nowhere to walk or go to. Breakfast, in the room fridge, for 2 was 2 slices of bread, a banana, an apple, an orange. It was not served in the upstairs living area (which is actually a corridor) it wasn't served at all! No evening meals is available or served, in fact there is no-one there in the evenings. I simply cannot understand the other reviews.

    A very quiet village.

A very quiet village. I recommend a visit to the historic Twamley Farm that is offered by the host. We used Buckland as a base , staying two nights and doing a day trip to Maria Island. The cottage was a wonderfully relaxing place to unwind after a hard day's walking on the island. We prepared our own food but could have made a delicious meal with the gourmet supplies available at the cottage. We were travelling as a couple with a teenage son. Having 2 living areas meant the boy could have his own space. As the 2 bedrooms only had double beds it would be unsuitable for a family with more than 1 child.
