Darwin displays a cocktail of cultures from ‘Aussie larrikins’ to the local Aboriginals from Larrakia Country. Throw in an influx of international visitors who now call the Top End of Australia home, and this concoction bedazzles with busy outdoor markets and an adequate supply of drinking holes (pubs).
The modern Darwin Wharf precinct, including Stokes Hill Wharf, still gleams on those endless summer days having been rebuilt after the destruction caused both during World War II bombings and Cyclone Tracey. Grab a bar stool with a view of the harbour or a seat on a terrace and sip a cool drink in Australia’s northernmost, tropical capital city.
A popular time for tourists is Darwin’s dry season that starts in May and ends in October. If you prefer it hot and humid, then the end of the wet season can be spectacular when the waterfalls in Kakadu and Litchfield national parks are at their mightiest.
Australia’s wild frontier can be reached all the way from Adelaide and Alice Springs along the picturesque Stuart Highway that ends at Daly Street in the CBD. Outside the centre are the natural surrounds in Palmerston, Humpty Doo and closer by is Mindil Beach with its famous Sunset Market.
Darwin International Airport has international flights from Singapore and Bali. You can choose from a variety of hotels, hostels and apartments on Booking.com.

Coming from a country with thousand of years of history and kn owing Australia was young, I enjoyed the historical side of history. The war, the Flying Doctors museum is a must and please contribute their work is amazing. The Cyclone museum was also very interesting and well done. Enjoyed them very much. The hop on Hop off bus was good as you got a good view, but most important walk around. The night scene is not my scene, with many locals drinking at pubs. There is a very good choice of restaurants. For me 4 days was enough. I know there are many other things to see and people should visit places and tours outside the city. I was there for a 4 day break to relax and see Darwin and the places mentioned. Enjoy.

Darwin is a beautiful City but does require visitors to remain aware that they are in a remote location and to be aware of their surroundings at all times. Noodle House on Mitchell Street and The Oyster Bar within the Darwin Waterfront precinct were the best places we found to eat, but many were still fabulous. They sunset fish and chip cruise to Cullen Bay was wonderful and definitely recommended to book also!

Not in the Wet season, way too hot. We hired a car, very hard to get out of Hotels security gate, and other travellers not respecting Disabled Parking signs.
The military museum and the Cyclone Tracy memorial at East Point is a must.
Ate at the Markets Saturday and Sunday and fast food Yuk for cheapness..Coffee shops at Nightcliff Pool, Nightcliff Mall and Cafe 21
in Darwin Mall near Westpac bank. reasonable.

Amazing place - so much to see, do and learn - especially about the Bombing of Darwin in WW11 and Cyclone Tracey. National parks, swimming holes and some crocodile adventures are all close by - what is not to love!

It’s exceptional for privacy and luxury. Also, the comfiest beds made for the cherry on top :) will stay again!
Everything was perfect! Apartment was exactly as expected from the photos. Fantastic views over Darwin. Central location walking distance to everything in the city and waterfront. Apartment was modern and clean and had everything we needed. Easy instructions for key collection on arrival.
Great location, within walking distance to restaurants, supermarkets, casino, botanical gardens and the Darwin esplanade and waterfront. The host was so accommodating and friendly to all our enquiries. Apartment was so comfortable and clean.
Pleasant setting away from the city buildings, convenient to Botanical Gardens and Casino. Better value than central hotels. Friendly and helpful staff.
