Set in Maydena, Maydena Lodge offers accommodation with free WiFi, air conditioning and access to a garden with a terrace. A microwave and kettle are also featured.

Very basic accommodation. Bed was clean and comfy but only had one thin blanket , thankfully there was an airconditioner otherwise it would have been freezing. No chair or table. Mould and dust on the window sill in the bedroom. Shared bathroom , the shower, handbasin around tap and on wall and floor were dirty. Taps in the handbasin in the separate toilet didn’t turn on at all. Small shared kitchen with kettle and microwave . Overpriced , more like a cheap backpackers .

Located in National Park, Mt Field Retreat features a garden. The hotel has family rooms. At the hotel, rooms include a balcony.

The self contained pods have everything you need and want. The pods are modern, very clean and comfortable with plush furnishings. All close to the national park. Everything was really easy and we received lots of communication about our stay.

    The village is beautiful.

The village is beautiful. The people are friendly and helpful. You have the Junee Cave Track beautiful walk (we only walk part of the way as it was getting late), the Tyenna River, heaps of history. It was only a short stay so was not able to see everything. We will leave that for our next stay there which will be longer :-)

This town is very popular with mountain bike riders. Great trails to ride on and drive on. Everyone should experience the Rail Track Riders in Mayne St. Unique tour run by knowledgeable people great short walk to Junee Cave.

The cabin was very well presented and the owner went to the trouble of making sure the heater was on upon our arrival due to us arriving quite late. We had break supplied as well as organic shampoo and conditioner. Very nice to see. Recycling was in place as well. Very nice to wake up in the morning to the alpacas and the view. In addition to this the owner made sure we knew what was and what wasn't available in the area i.e. petrol places, food ect. Very helpful information.

Beautiful place to stay and the owners are fantastic people, if you’re looking for somewhere to stay close to Mt Field then this is it. The cabins are very well equipped and a good kitchen. The only problem is there are not really any cafés or restaurants close by. The close being Mt Field Visitors centre or New Norfolk, but these are close by.

Maydena is the last stop for last minute supplies before the long trip to Strathgordon and the S.W. Wilderness area. Probably better to stock up before then for essentials as we did. We were forewarned by the owners that the restaurant was closed - we traveled in winter.

Maydena is a tiny town with the vibe of Twin Peaks.

Maydena is a tiny town with the vibe of Twin Peaks. A great base for fishing the Tyenna River for trout and exploring the Styx Valley. Make sure to check out Lake Pedder and Gordon Dam if water is your thing. There are lots of beautiful, magical walks at Mt Field National Park which is about 25 mins down the road. We also recommend checking out the Big Tree Reserve, Junee Cave, Russell Falls. Buy supplies in New Norfolk as there were no supermarkets. Get dinner at the Giants Table and Cottages pub, lots of dietary requirements can be met.
