Small hostel with a friendly vibe. Twice weekly minibus trips to woolworths, good area for cooking, small but nice pool area. Shuttle from greyhound stop to hostel for €5AUD (wouldn’t recommend walking it with your bag in the heat). Great location if you are doing a skydive with skydive Aus and if you book it through the hostel you get a free night. Also very close to the beach but you can only swim in a designated netted area.

It was self-contained and nestled into a lovely tropical landscape. Most importantly, I could take my dog which was a necessity because I hadn’t been able to find a local boarding option for him during the Summer Holidays. Sharon is a friendly and welcoming host who provides some little extra snacks and has her handmade soaps and candles available to purchase too. Highlights of the area for me were Bingil Bay and seeing cassowaries at Etty Bay, and also just a few kilometres from the guesthouse on Tully Mission Beach Road. It was a good base to explore the area from.

The most amazing little place. You couldn't ask for more. 10/10. The owners were lovely and so friendly. The room was clean and perfect. Didn't need to ask for anything as every little thing was already thought of and provided. Such a perfect view too. The breakfast provided was lovely. I have already booked to return again.

Mission Beach itself was undergoing roadwork right in the centre of the beach area, so getting to shops or to the actual beach was tricky. Instead, went to South Mission beach, and it's fantastic. The beach is 14km long, with stinger nets during this season. Almost deserted since I visited outside of tourist season and local schools are still in. So, very quiet but beautiful beach and surrounding areas.
Woolworths supermarket is around 10 minutes from the beach.

Lovely tropical beach destination with lots of foodie choices and a great beach. There were roadworks and excavations going on bang in the middle of the busy centre when I visited but didn’t spoil the experience. It will be even prettier once all work is done.
I had a cold beer on arrival at the tavern everyone raved about but decided to have a local beer brewed on site at the Garage Bar & Brew. The black pearl ale was great and I ordered the moreton bay bug which was on special and it was scrumptious and to die for! The cocktail list is impressive and looked great but I didn’t sample.
Lastly I recommend having breakfast at Johalia.. lovely ladies and the big breakfast was indeed big and delicious.

I visit Mission Beach every year with my family.
I visit Mission Beach every year with my family. A sleepy little costal town where the rainforest meets the beach. From boutique shops to quaint beachside cafes its the perfect place for a quiet getaway. Access to tropical islands, rainforest walks and the Great Barrier Reef are just a few things to do in Mission Beach. And don't forget to keep an eye out for the infamous Cassowary!

Licuala Lodge was an outstanding property and John & Guillem were perfect hosts. Attention to detail was excellent and you were quickly relaxed and made to feel welcome.
The room contained everything you needed and there was an excellent guest lounge as a bonus.
Breakfast was worth travelling for and you ate overlooking magnificent gardens full of birdlife and butterflies. Cassowaries and curlews were regular visitors.
Thanks John & Guillem for providing such a superb finish to our holiday.

A beautiful apartment with everything you need for a luxury stay at Mission Beach. It is located across the road from the beach in a quiet part of Mission Beach, and close to the shops, cafes and restaurants. The breakfast was wonderful, the decor and furnishings were beautiful, and the hosts provided helpful information and we’re very welcoming. We had a wonderful stay.
Beachfront location, stunning views, privacy, high quality design, beautiful modern villa, generous welcome bundle in fridge. Staff were friendly and helpful.
