Moina – 5 hotels and places to stay

This award-winning boutique wilderness retreat features an on-site restaurant and is situated amongst peaceful rainforest surroundings.

Short walks were excellent. Longer walks a bit more challenging that we expected and hence gave a liss.

Set within 34 km of Dove Lake in Moina, Cradle Alpine Retreat offers accommodation with seating area. There is a private entrance at the bed and breakfast for the convenience of those who stay.

Our cabin was spacious, clean, well equipped, and situated in a park like setting. It was in a good location with reasonable access to many attractions. We had trouble with our TV on arrival, and Shepherd went out of his way to solve the problem.

Featuring a garden and views of mountain, Wilder Tasmania is a recently renovated chalet located in Gowrie Park, 48 km from Dove Lake. The air-conditioned accommodation is 43 km from Devonport Oval.

The dome itself, so beautifully decorated, and the main lodge for eating, relaxing. The hosts were amazing. We arrived late and they txt us to make sure they could get food ready for us on arrival. The outside bath and starry night (just remember to turn the aircon off before you get in).

    Nice location and rooms.

Nice location and rooms. No nearby evening restaurants, so we took all our own food, but there were limited cooking facilities. Cafe attached to property can do meals but they have to be preordered and delivered by 5pm. We were never back from walking by that time, so that did not suit us

Lovely character filled location with log cabins that provided privacy and yet a lovely view overlooking the forest. I took my own food and kitchen facilities were great. It was lovely and warm inside, despite being below zero temperatures outside overnight!

    Beautiful part of the world.

Beautiful part of the world. Lots of great walks around Cradle Mountain, amazing accommodations, some nice places to eat. Climbing Marions Look Out was a bucket list item we were happy to complete. Will be back.

A quiet secluded spot, definitely back to nature.

A quiet secluded spot, definitely back to nature. Plenty of wildlife particularly at night, plenty of birds during the daytime. Close to cradle mountain to explore if you want but plenty of walks close by, not all easy but some are duckboards. Great breakfast included and good selection and delicious dinner options in the restaurant. Microwave in your room, but I wouldn’t plan on driving in/out at night, good road but in places quite narrow so passing at night would be interesting.

The bed was very comfortable only problem was getting to it.

The bed was very comfortable only problem was getting to it. We are both a bit old to climb the ladder up to the bed. If we where younger It would not have been a problem. Loved where it was and thought it was brilliant what had been done in such a small place. Would recommend if climbing a steep few stairs is easy for you. It was spotless and had everything we needed.

Beautiful setting and the room was lovely.

Beautiful setting and the room was lovely. We had Pademelon roaming right under our cabin and our resident Kookaburra in the tree. Very remote but we knew that which made for the great experience of being in the wilderness. Close proximity to get to the National Park without the huge expense of other accommodation options. It is remote so eating options weren't there but we were informed of this and took our own supplies picked up along the way. No wifi but again no issue as we knew this. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

An incredible location and stay! A beautiful location and beautiful tiny location to stay in. We had booked for one night but had wished we stayed for 2. The quiet nature and wildlife with incredible views really makes for a unique and enjoyable stay compared to hotels. We have already shared this with our friends and family as a must stay location! A full size bathroom and full equipped kitchen with everything you need to have a romantic dinner in.

Cradle Mountain and resort restaurants are only a 15 minute drive away. Wombat Cabin is rustic, remote, quiet, but with electricity and hot water! Extra breakfast groceries provided gave us more eating flexibility - much appreciated. Great wood stove heats up the whole place. On our Tassie trip, the big hotels we stayed at were fine, but Wombat Cabin was the most memorable, positive experience.

this hotel is a bit isolated than I thought, kind of hidding in the middle of a mountain, the expereince is so exceptional, and the hotel staff is very nice and kind, the food there is fantastic!

Best bed we have slept on in two weeks of travelling around Tassie. We were up early and headed off for a walk at LSC. Previous night we had a couple of beers at the Hotel in front of the fire.
