Set in Mole Creek, Wandering Trout - Gourmet Stays offers free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden, a shared lounge and a terrace.

Cute old building. Nice rooms with good space and with little ensuite. Good value for the price. But the real reason to stay is the food, if you’re a foodie. We had the 6 course degustation at 7pm sitting and it was beautiful. One of the best meals we’ve had for sometime. Justin did brilliantly, we loved it. And some good drinks to match.

Featuring a garden and views of mountain, Wilder Tasmania is a recently renovated chalet located in Gowrie Park, 48 km from Dove Lake. The air-conditioned accommodation is 43 km from Devonport Oval.

The dome itself, so beautifully decorated, and the main lodge for eating, relaxing. The hosts were amazing. We arrived late and they txt us to make sure they could get food ready for us on arrival. The outside bath and starry night (just remember to turn the aircon off before you get in).

Eagles Nest Retreat has mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking, situated in West Kentish, 35 km from Devonport Oval. The accommodation features a spa bath and a hot tub.

From top to bottom everything at the nest has clearly been carefully curated to provide the pinnacle of cosy, secluded country retreats. Also, the optional additions of the massage and private chef were well worth the very reasonable price tags. Both Helen (the massuese) and the chef (Nick) were incredibly professional and provided a level of service I have rarely encountered.

Mole Creek's location allowed us easy access to a variety of towns and sites across the area - from Cradle Mountain to the Bossimis Bakehouse and Cafe in Sheffield which we visited every day we were in the area. The roads were easy to travel and the locals were warm and welcoming. Food at the Mole Creek Hotel was excellent and prices are very good.

Lovely rural setting with quite a few adjoining villages, the major attractions would be the caves and views of the Western Tiers, there is also the Melita honey store in nearby Chudlegh which has a great range of honey products and educational resources including live bee hive (behind glass). The 41°South salmon farm is also worth a visit. For a place this size there are a surprising number of places to eat including two hotels and a few cafes.

The apartment was nothing short of amazing- a home away from home. It was well equipped with a fully functional kitchen and laundry facilities. The apartment was adequately heated (including under floor heating in the bathroom), could hardly find anything wrong with the place. Consider the location if you are heading to Cradle Mountain.

There is not much of note in Mole Creek.

There is not much of note in Mole Creek. It was just vital for us to ‘Stop and Revive’ after our 4 hour drive from Strahan in wet weather on tortuous roads. We could not face entering Launceston traffic, so we really enjoyed our comfortable night at the Taphouse. Be warned there is Bozzey Cafe nearby which was filthy and stank, and the Manager was rude and gossiped about the whole town (we had trouble getting away!). She told us not to stay at the Taphouse but she was wrong.

    What a place!

What a place! The Cave adventure was a real highlight but there is more than meets the eye in this quiet little town. Beautiful scenery everywhere you look and lots of little spots for walking or picnicking. If you have a 4x4, this place is an adventure waiting to happen, with windy roads that make the imagination run wild. Just keep an eye or two open for wildlife, and take it slow. There is no rush when in a place this lovely.
