Nhill was quiet and not much open on a week night from a restuarant perspective. The Vietnamese restuarant which is also a bakery next door was great and so convenient. Quaint town. Has a good cafe and IGA available. Unsure of hotels. Hotel was popular and quite satisfactory for overnight stay. Did not hear any main road noise unlike other motels on this highway. Public pool opposite - we usually head to Adelaide over summer - so this is always welcome. Couple of decent pubs as dinner options. Good IGA for snacks & other supplies. I went for a walk around the lake before breakfast and my daughter explored the Swamp Boardwalk. Well worth the hour’s walk before another 4 hour drive to Adelaide. We had Mr Le’s famous Banh Mi for dinner which we called ahead for on the night of our arrival - delicious! Breaking my trip to Adelaide in Nhill gave us the opportunity to stop and look at some of the most amazing sights and places that we’ve just flown by in the past. Check out the Silo Art in the small towns along the way. Definitely don’t miss The Puppet Shop at Kaniva. It will be 15 minutes of your trip that will stay with you for years. Nhill is a small Wimmera Town and is the gateway to Wyperfeld National Park and the surrounding agricultural belt. About halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne it is a good stop over point. The eateries are a bit limited but will suit most diets. The Vietnamese Take away or dine in is good value. The shower was good but a little squeezy. The beds had an electric blanket on there if needed, there was also an air conditioner. A microwave, fridge were also helpful in the room.
