The location was a dream. The description said across the street from the beach, but it’s a tiny street and there it is!
In March it was quiet there, which made it extra wonderful.
The hotel was a little boutique style with impeccably friendly service. Free parking.
The breakfast was included and amazing every morning.
They started a dinner service literally while we were there. Dinner was excellent and done with a lot of care.
The hotel was within walking distance of the little village and some great casual restaurants/bars.
Close to the marina.
Beautiful warm whimsical pool. It was a great place to come home to each night or spend the day right in the neighborhood. Sad to leave paradise!

Location, the deck, listening to the birds sing, the pool, the restaurants right beside it. They even had smooth jazz playing from the tv when I walked into my room

The hosts. Both Bernie and Lily made a difference in our staying at this otherwise namesake budget-friendly motel. Due to the tropical rain weather, we had to adjust our travel plan to Port Douglas a couple of times since we had a rental car and were unsure about driving the first time on an Australian coastal road. Bernie was so accommodating, to the point he messaged us while we were on the way about the local weather and road condition and offered us the flexibility to put us at ease. Upon arrival we found our room was extremely clean and nostalgically decorated. We were also pleasantly surprised by the fully equipped community kitchen they offer to all guests. We ended up staying two full nights as originally planned. Our experience was nothing but wonderful. We will for sure stay here again if we ever come back to Port Douglas.

Get happier staff. Nothing you can do about the room size now but if you're looking for something more spacious , go to the Sheraton just down the road. I've stayed there and that's way better. If it's a tiny room and close proximity to the Main Street, and you don't mind moody, unaccommodating staff, this is your spot

We are reasonably local, travelling only from Palm Cove for a special occasion but make no mistake - Port Douglas is very special. Being the wet season it absolutely poured down for the whole time we were there but if you understand the FNQ wet season this would not spoil your stay.

The scenery on the drive from Cairns to Port Douglas is spectacular with the sea on one side and the forest on the other side. Port Douglas is small enough to walk around. It has lots of shops and restaurants. A day's snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef with Wavelength was the highlight of our time there. Paddy's Irish Pub served a great pint of Guinness. Their food was also good.

Stayed for 5 nights. Did the rainforest one day plus the reef another. A beach day too. This definitely seems much nicer to stay than Cairns given how compact it is. Would recommend staying here if in the area

We are regular visitors to the area and love it however Mid year is the best time to visit when then weather is consistently beautiful. It's a great relaxing lifestyle and will be better still if the new splash pool behind the Surf Club goes ahead.

Lovely town. Quite compact but not a bad thing.
Lovely town. Quite compact but not a bad thing. Really good food options given the size, you'll struggle to have a bad meal. Four mile beach is worth visiting. Was there during overcast weather and the low season, but can imagine it comes to life when either the sun is out or the dry season starts. Worth going to just for the access to the Barrier Reef and Daintree.

The hotel is around the corner of the main street in Port Douglas and a five minute walk from the beach. Our room was well decorated, beds comfortable and a good bathroom. The bonus was the jacuzzi on the terras and the swim out from the room. The rules for use of jacuzzi and swimming pool ensure that it is quiet at 10.00 pm. Free parking and friendly staff.
Saltwater apartments are in the best location in Port Douglas, extremely handy for going out to eat or shopping on Macrossan St. The apartments are exceptionally clean and well appointed in a modern, nautical style. The 2 bedroom apartment was very spacious, with heaps of room for a family of 4 with 2 teenagers.
The apartment was large and very comfortable for our family of four. It was in a perfect location within the hotel, with our swim out terrace close to the spa and pool bar. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will book again next time we visit Port Douglas!
Friendly helpful staff. Great bar meals & deals. Clean & green. We love Port Douglas. Hoping Dougies stays on operation for years to come! Thanks for free shuttle from/return to Cairns!!
For us it is Location Location Location - everything is walking distance. We come up to Port Douglas for Fishing Charters and this Hotel is located across the road from the Boat Ramp
