Very pleasantly surprised, had not been to Paynesville for a very long time.
Park was a great place to relax, all amenities very welcoming and clean.
Cabin had everything that was needed for a short getaway.
It was quiet most of the time, all very pleasant guests which were lovely to chat to.

We were a little surprised that the noone was in the reception office upon our arrival. We were a little confused about how to go about getting keys to our unit. But, we finally figured it out.

We enjoyed the beaches and the Koala walk! Just being on the property was amazing. The close proximity of the wildlife was just wonderful. The ferry was very well run and did not stop us from enjoying the town of Paynesville.

we parked on the island, took a free-for-pedestrians ferry to Paynesville and easily walked around to cafes and restaurants.
Arturios is a terrific latin restaurant and 3880 has pizzas , pastas and parmas.
The floating tin shed had a live performer singing. Great bonus.
Kids everywhere on bikes in Paynesville and exploring Raymond Island.
Really nice destinations for people who want a slower pace and want to relax and for families.

The island is flat so Ok for walking or cycling to view the wild life. Loads of Kangaroos, birds, koalas, echidnas etc. Access is via a car ferry $13 return for a car, free for people and cycles, and the queue can be long, waiting 20 minutes some times. The island has no shops, so need to bring your supplies or catch the ferry for loads of choices of cafe, restaurants and shops. However, the small town does not have extended shopping or cafe hours so check (eg Sunday morning cafes opened at 10 am). Mainly a boating and fishing district, no sandy beaches for swiming. Very quiet and peacful, not much traffic and it all goes slow. Watch for kangaroos on the roads including in the township at night. Bring insect repellant. Also check the ferry, it goes offline for maintenance for two weeks every year.

Easy access to the water all around the entire island - We did a bit of fishing as well. Koalas, Kangaroos, Rabbits and variety of wildlife were literally everywhere on the island, which is great. Easy access to the Ferry, its for Free for passengers and bicycles etc. as many trips back and forth as you like. Vehicle cost on the Ferry is $13 (Return), so we just left the car on Raymond Island and walked everywhere/took the Ferry. Good place to eat was Café Toonalook (Andy's Café), literally across from the Ferry - Best Burgers & Chips in town and not expensive either. Raymond Island is so easy to explore - Would have been better if we had bicycles at the accommodation or there was a good hire place. There is a local hiring get around bicycles - though at $40 ph, we avoided it. Also, do remember to bring Insect Repellant and insect killer spray - The mossies' were everywhere.
