Richmond – 22 hotels and places to stay

Located in Richmond and with Theatre Royal reachable within 17 miles, The Richmond Arms Hotel has a restaurant, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and a bar.

Slightly disappointed with my stay. The good - sheets and towels were clean - bed and pillows were comfortable. The bad -carpet and couch in room stained- (looked dirty) vents in room and bathroom extremely dusty. Main shared bathroom mouldy. Internet had poor connection. I fell down the middle bathroom stairs because the hallway light didn't switch on. Squeaky floors and paper thin walls, had to sleep with ear plugs the whole time I was there because every noise could be heard. No where to hang towel or clothes in room.

Richmond was a lovely stopover, full of history and old school charm. We had a car which made it easy to get around. Richmond Bridge was beautiful, a great place to enjoy coffee and watch the ducks and time pass you by. Richmond Gaol was fascinating, reading all about the early days and life as a convict. Loads of little boutiques and cafes.

Richmond is a very pretty town and a great place to stay in, if all you want to do is relax or day trips to various natural attractions. Hobart is within arm's reach if you are driving, so need for city action can also be easily fulfilled. Being a quiet town though, food and drinks may be difficult to find after 8pm. There are great cafes and walking lanes for the daytime. My husband enjoyed playing golf in the mornings while I would walk around town. We would then take advantage of the long summer days and drive out - Eastern Coastal Drive, Mt Field National Park, Hobart MONA Museum, Bruny Island, Maria Island etc.

Richmond, Tasmania, is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts, architecture lovers, and anyone seeking a picturesque and peaceful escape. The town’s well-preserved Georgian architecture, historic landmarks, and local attractions make it a unique and enriching experience. We have visited Richmond several times and it never disappoints. Richmond Botanical Co, opposite the maize, is our favourite shop. Richmond Botanicals Co. supplies a range of unique luxury Tasmanian giftware, including hand poured Tasmanian inspired Botanical soy candles, skin care products and much more.

Richmond is a very pretty convict town and easy to walk to all the sights and very quaint shops. We were limited to only one place to eat mid-week the Richmond Arms Hotel. Richmond is only 18 minutes to the airport for a very easy hire car drop off.

The intact historic buildings provide the visitor with a view of the past and certainly the Richmond Bridge is an incredible example of early architecture. This is so complementary to the rest of the town.

Close to Richmond, you can walk to town. This is the second time we stay in Hatchers, good value for money. The kids got to cuddle a little lamb.
