We spent 2 nights in Rutherglen and could have spent longer. We took our bikes and rode the new bike loops that link Rutherglen and Corowa and link a number of the wineries. The bike paths are excellent - really diverse and a very good way to get around. We rode around 50km and visited 3 wineries (Pfiffer, Buller and Campbells) all of which were excellent. Best wine and cycling experience!!

What is not to like, if you like wine, food, and walks?

What is not to like, if you like wine, food, and walks? If these are not your thing, do not go to Rutherglen. If they are, you have plenty to visit to stay entertained for several days. This is also a good area to just relax. There are places to sit, read, or do whatever regenerates you. Do keep in mind the time of year because it can get HOT or cold where outdoor activities may be limited for some.

Rutherglen is a small thriving town not far south of the Murray River at Corowra. While it is renowned for its wineries, a gold strike close by was the reason for initial settlement. While some people might visit for touring wineries, we found the architecture of the early buildings of this small town had real appeal, and we discovered at the south end of the main street a good coffee place serving great food including breakfasts, with a sizeable collection of motorbikes in an attached building (previously an old service station and garage workshops).

Rutherglen has so much to offer!

Rutherglen has so much to offer! Wineries, cafes, shopping, locals are friendly and caffeine n machine I’d rate as one of the best cafe/bakery/ museums I’ve ever been to. We love the IGA too, such a great selection of locally sourced products on offer. The Rutherglen Rumble is one for the calendar if you like Car shows, Truck Shows , Motorbike Shows this is one event that has it all! April usually !

Tuilles at De Bortolli was exceptional for dinner, duck and eye fillet were outstanding. We would also recommend the Star Hotel for a chinese dinner if that is what you like. There are numerous options for breakfast and lunch and as well as 3 pubs, a wine bar and other retaurants that give a wide choice for eating options. The proximity to various high quality wineries and the Murray River make Rutherglen a must stop location. From our perspective 3 days was not long enough. And don't forget to try the muscat

The big attraction is wine tasting.

The big attraction is wine tasting. However, the number of places for dinner has increased and the quality is really good, so it's definitely a place where you can enjoy dining out too, whether in town or at a cellar door.

Great location, just a short stroll into Rutherglen and directly opposite a very good restaurant. The place is spotlessly clean and has recently been renovated so it has a very modern look. Rooms and beds are very comfortable. Swimming pool is sparkling, we used it both days. Outside BBQ area is also great, very clean and well equipped - we used it and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Lovely people run the place who went out of their way to make sure we had a good time.

location. room 3 was excellent, bright and well appointed. my family stayed in room 4 which they found very dark as it faced the rear of the hotel and did not have a skylight as did room 3.
