We had to find a room for a one night stay near Hobart after our flight was cancelled. This was only a short drive from the airport, and was a good value. This is in the lower floor of a house in a suburb. The room had a nice panoramic view down the hill onto the bay. The host was friendly, efficient, and prompt.

Slightly disappointed with my stay. The good - sheets and towels were clean - bed and pillows were comfortable. The bad -carpet and couch in room stained- (looked dirty) vents in room and bathroom extremely dusty. Main shared bathroom mouldy.
Internet had poor connection. I fell down the middle bathroom stairs because the hallway light didn't switch on. Squeaky floors and paper thin walls, had to sleep with ear plugs the whole time I was there because every noise could be heard. No where to hang towel or clothes in room.
Great place to stop over. As close as you can get to Port Arthur and still be in a reasonable Town with most services and still get things without the tourist price mark up. Also close to Richmond and Hobart Airport without the busyness or price of Hobart.

Sorrell as a town isn't much of tourist area, but what is nice is it is only minutes from the Hobart Airport, and was centrally located between Bruny Island, the Tasman Penninsula and Maria Island

I stayed here as I was on a 2 day trip seeing & photographing Tasmanian Water Tank Art & had an early morning flight to catch. My last photo stop was at nearby Dodges Ferry, close to Sorell. My accomodation was near the town & I left early to get Macca's , in town for breakfast, & make it to the airport on time & return my rental car. I have been to the area a few times before & it is a great tourist area which should not be missed for first time tourists as it is also on the way to Port Arthur. The East Coast also has magnificent sights & scenery, & I drove down the steep & windy, but beautiful scenery of Elephant Pass - be careful if you drive it.
