The Hotel at the top of town had excellent meals, along with cafes and eateries in town. Woolworths and Coles are there. There are historical places and National Parks in and around the vicinity with good walking tracks. The countryside around Tenterfield has interesting geographical sites. Stanthorpe is only a short drive North.

Tenterfield is a dream.
Tenterfield is a dream. Beautiful gardens (especially Behind the Hedge, White's Cottage and Ivy Leaf Chapel). Gallery stores along the main road, Rouse street, including Antiques and My Notes From Gallery and Store (234 Rouse). Lara is such a talented photographer and poet.
Best place to eat is definitely The Courtyard Cafe (Rouse Street) opposite Coles. Run by locals serving locals and extremely affordable.
It is also a very dog friendly town.

Very fond of Tenterfield - it is a surprising town with a couple of great eating places, Stonefruit, Bad Manners, a couple of nice dress shops - always feels clean, safe and a great place to wander around.

The Information Centre has been closed permanently by the Council well over 12 months ago but Google Maps still shows it there so we had to find everything we wanted to see by ourselves. Railway museum - closed. Tenterfield Sadler - closed. Glenrock Gardens - closed. All of these places, plus other places, were closed on the days we were there, if the Information Centre was open we would not have wasted our time in going to them.

Our stay was too short but the places we saw were great!
Our stay was too short but the places we saw were great! The Tenterfield Railway Museum was informative. Good to see the engines & railway carriages being preserved. Like all small towns more volunteers are needed for this. Many historic buildings around the town. Courtyard Cafe provided us with a delicious breakfast.
Will plan another trip down that way to see more of the area. Loved the Royal Hotel and would not hesitate to stay again.

The historic buildings are nice.
The historic buildings are nice. Be aware that outside of holiday times that attractions may close early or even not be open at all, despite what their website says.
A couple of places we went to mentioned problems in staffing so be kind to those that are open.

This majestic art deco hotel is on High Street in CBD of Tenterfield but it is on a side road so quiet. The motel section around the back is circa 1960’s. There is space for a real benefit of having a garden or pool for the guests. Very clean and professionally run. Impressively for a country town. Would have loved a room in the hotel itself.
This cottage is much cleaner than my previous accommodation experience in Tenterfield. The lighting indoors and outdoors is excellent, the bed is very comfortable, and the host, Danni, is very friendly and helpful in recommending tourist spots and restaurants around Tenterfield. It was a wonderful travel experience.
Room was clean and comfortable bed. Room was quiet with no traffic noise. For a budget room you really wouldn't ask for more. Tourist Route 9 drive and free guided Tenterfield Saddler visit both essential tourism activities. Old fella was so knowledgeable.
Everything easy to locate. Facilities excellent staff friendly. Dining room for dinner great and dinner wonderful. Will stay there again when traveling through Tenterfield.
Great location! just over the road from shops. Very comfortable & cosy room with all that one would need for an overnight stay.
Lovely town...love Tenterfield!
