Wisemans Ferry – 9 hotels and places to stay

Set in Wisemans Ferry, 46 km from Rouse Hill Village Centre, Wisemans Inn offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

Love the heritage listed building, the laid back yet attentive staff, the food was great and the room was so sweet, decorated to the style of the gorgeous building and amazingly air-conditioned. The bathrooms were clean and updated as well. Such a quaint and beautiful spot to stay for a night and escape Sydney city. The river is a short walk away with personal perfect for fishing and relaxing.

Set on 50 acres, alongside the Hawkesbury River. Wisemans Retreat offers rooms with free WiFi. Free onsite parking is provided. Our 25m pool and baby pool are both open for summer .

The grounds are beautiful, but could do with some refreshing. The rooms I saw were so unclean I have never seen A/C filters that clogged up, tiles that black with mould, broken wood panelling and a room literally next to the Service Station’s 24/7 ice box ‘s refrigeration motor so a awful night of noise and couldnt open any windows as right on street opposite pub so a safety concern too A big brick fence would be great for security, privacy and may block out the Service Station noise a tiny bit. I can ignore the run down interiors as cheap price but mould and dust at that level is just unsafe. Front desk staff member really nice but maybe someone there at check out instead of just a drop box and I could of discussed my concerns or shown the photos we both took or literally pointed the lack of cleaning/maintenance out. Sad as such a beautiful spot for a weekend away. Sick with allergies and sinus attack at moment

Absolutely wonderful hosts. Communication was quick and easy even prior to our stay which made it very easy to arrive and check in. Peter stayed to chat for a bit and showed us around before giving us our space and privacy facing the waters. Very prompt, polite and friendly. The place was in great condition and very clean. Inspect sprays, BBQ and everything readily available. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again. Thanks Peter and Olivia.

Boasting air-conditioned accommodation with a rooftop pool, lake view and a patio, Luxury Farm House on 20 acres - Sleeps 22 is situated in St Albans.

The location and views were top notch, and we enjoyed the company of the horses on the property. The fire pit was a nice addition that made for some memorable campfire stories. Thoroughly enjoyed kayaking on the river as well.

A wonderful town steeped in history and nostalgia.

A wonderful town steeped in history and nostalgia. The wiseman’s ferry pub is a gorgeous nearly 200 year old building. The sandstone building and well kept interiors takes you back to the days of old. The car ferry is a great way to cross the river! I could imagine the days when this was horse drawn by a team of Clydesdales! Del Rio is also a wonderful place to stay with beautiful surrounds and fun activities.

We had a wonderful stay with family and friends.

We had a wonderful stay with family and friends. The location was simply stunning and the grounds were great. So much for our older kids to do in a safe space. We ate at the pub for dinner which was l really nice and great sized meals and the heritage cafe was beautiful and had a beautiful lunch there. There could be some umbrellas at the pool for shade but everything else was perfect. We will be definitely back again.

This was our first time in Wisemen's Ferry.

This was our first time in Wisemen's Ferry. It's a really beautiful place and very quiet. To see mist on the river is morning was stunning. The Convict Walk up Devine's Hill was extremely interesting as a lot of information was available about the construction methods used for the road and the way the convicts lived and worked (bloody hard!). There's choice on places to eat and we would highly recommend the kiosk near the ferry dock. Great food and great value!!

Given a very old room that nobody has been living there for a while. The room was full of mosquitoes. I got woken up at 3.45am and 5.17am. I killed in total around ten mosquitoes. The smoke alarm went off twice when I was taking shower in the morning. I had to stop showering and went to the reception asking them to turn it off. Both windows were broken(could not be lifted up). There was a thick layer of dusk on the windows. I travel a lot and stayed in hotels/motels that costed from under a hundred to a few hundred per night. This was the worst experience so far.

The river is the highlight of Wisemans - if you are into waterski-ing then head up river, if you are into kayaking and fishing - head down river. Highly recommend for a great day out on the water - classic Hawkesbury River! You can head over to St Albans for lunch and a little more history or follow the river all the way to Spencer with another great place to eat. The roads can be a little narrow, but its still a great place to ride a bike if you are not into watersports!
