Wooli was just what we wanted...a beach, a river, a small village, peace and quiet and a great tavern for meals. We walked the whole area easily, and chatted to some friendly locals. Lovely place for a peaceful getaway.

For all those people who appreciate quiet surroundings...
For all those people who appreciate quiet surroundings amongst nature - the scrub turkeys, the sound of insects & birds, watching fish leap out of the water, downtime reading from the library or playing board games or outdoor games or exploring the many walking tracks to the sea or into town - Wooli is for you! We had never heard of Wooli until a friend stayed there only weeks earlier. It was the sight of him on a paddle board on still waters of the Wooli River that had us (in our 70’s) using the paddle boards each day.
Wooli is relatively under - developed - no high rise, unit complexes, rather cute beach cottages instead. It has a wonderful little cafe in Main Street with beautiful coffee. If you are staying here for an extended time, bring food with you as Wooli is a little off the beaten track so it could become expensive eating out for a family.

Wooli is a gorgeously small place with friendly locals and beaches that almost feel private! During colder times there is nothing better then having a bonfire and snuggling up or in the summer floating down the river in an inflatable with a cider in hand and your friends around. We have been coming to wooli annually since 2015 and have noticed changes over that time to the dunes as well as river and ocean areas. The flooding unfortunately has made these areas a bit murkier and less ideal to swim in but we are hopeful that when its hotter the gorgeous blue water will be on display! We went snorkelling by the riverside (There are sharks and we probably shouldnt have) but we saw turtles and tons of gorgeous fish. Its definately worth taking a trip to diggers too which when the tide is low has tons of gorgeous pools of fish, shells and a safe waveless area to swim and lounge in. We often take a gazebo and set camp up for the day, when favourable its best to go at low tide and enjoy the beach and rockpools then and as the tide comes in enjoy swimming
The local motel is amazing and the food superb. There is lots of variety. The sunset is on the river side.

Wooli is great for bird watching, photography, snorkelling in the river mouth,, walking, beach combing, whale watching, boating, paddling on the river, swimming and spending time with family. There is something for everyone. Not crowded like so many other places which is why we love it so much.
