Not sure we ever got into Alveringem itself but the...
Not sure we ever got into Alveringem itself but the surrounding villages are lovely, roads empty (apart from the odd farm vehicle) and lots to explore - even if you aren't into the WW1 history. People are very friendly, lots of good food around if you are careful with what you order and you can usually get by speaking either English or basic French as most are multi-lingual. 50 minutes from Le Shuttle - a perfect destination for a short break.Guest review byElizabethUnited Kingdom

The boys loved the views and everything about the area. The staff were outstanding and we loved our visit. Although there is not a restaurant on site, we loved that they picked us up and took us to their sister hotel 10min away for dinner. Great restaurant in Hotel Hinterland if one specific chef is present. In his absence we had to go to the Abdij Lo on another occasion and the cook there is unfortunately way below, very amateurish and a disappointment compared to the chef of hotel Hinterland.
