Diest is really understated. There are some lovely historic parts of the town to explore, the Grand Place has some very good restaurants and it's surrounded by beautiful countryside. It's a very calm, peaceful place to visit. Our favourite restaurant was Nicky's Catwalk in the Grand Place.

Diest is a charming small town in Belgium that offers everything a family could need. During our 8-day stay, we enjoyed the beautiful old town, filled with cozy cafés, restaurants, and pubs, as well as lovely local stores alongside major brands. The town is surrounded by clean air and lush greenery, making it a refreshing place to relax. Halve Maan Park was a highlight, with its outdoor pool and sand beach, perfect for family fun. The park also offers golf, children’s playgrounds, and free access to most areas, including parking in the nearby forest.
One of the most fascinating aspects of Diest is the Beguinage, a UNESCO-protected site dating back to the 13th century. The history of these communities, founded by single women who supported and protected each other, is truly inspiring. Diest's excellent location also makes it a convenient base for exploring other cities, with a train station that connects directly to the heart of Brussels. The people of Diest are incredibly polite, welcoming, and laid-back, which made our experience even more enjoyable.

Hotel was within spitting distance of the square. Wonderful place to people watch with plenty of bar/cafes.
The hotel was relaxed and the staff were great. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the bed and pillows very comfortable indeed. Actually, the rooms were cleaned every day. The breakfast was great. Plenty of food, orange juice and tea. A good start to the day. We will certainly return on our next trip to Diest.
The hotel is situated conveniently just off the motorway and we weren't disturbed by road noise. The bedroom was a fair size - we had a family room on the ground floor with bunk beds, two single beds and a bathroom with shower. Breakfast buffet was really nice and offered a good range. Free parking on site. It's a lovely looking building.
The location, close to Diest centre and lovely outdoor spaces, and within walking distance of the railway station, was great for me and the family members I came to visit. The apartment itself was immaculately clean, warm and bright, and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this destination.
