Excellent location close to the city centre but in a quiet area. Good cycle access. Very friendly staff. Loved the design of the room and public areas. The room had ample storage areas for any length of stay, a welcome fridge and good lighting including movement sensor night lights by the bed and in the bathroom. Lovely terrace with pond.

The centre of Ypres has been completely reconstructed since the end of the first world war, it is very authentic.
The people are very friendly and a large proportion speak English. There are plenty of places to eat and the food was excellent and well worth the price!
My one minor issue was the cobbled streets and pavements are mainly cobbled and uneven making use of my electric wheel chair challenging.
The surrounding area has several sites relating to WW1, I visited Tyne Cot, the largest WW1 war graves cemetery in the world I believe with some 11000 graves and further 35000 names of those whose bodies were never identified. It is a beautiful, peaceful place albeit very sobering to see. In Ypres itself is the Menine Gate. It is very easy to walk to from the hotel and once again is engraved with thousands of names of the fallen who were never identified. At 8pm every night a ceremony is conducted to remember the fallen, the Ypres Fire Brigade provide buglers who play the last post and wreaths are laid by various groups, it is very moving.

We were a group of 4 on motorcycles and find it easy to make our way around with plenty to see and experience with the mix of History and more modern culture available to explore. The people are welcoming and friendly. It’s a beautiful place and is kept very clean so take your litter home if you can’t find a bin. The Last Post at the Menin Gate is a must to experience a drive to the Tyne Cot cemetery another emotional eye opener or maybe head to Passchendaele museum and experience the dug out and trenches with an audio guide at points full of information. Most places that rent out for holidays usually have local tourism leaflets on hand or research and plan before you go you won’t be disappointed.

An easy place to get around by foot as nothing is too far. Good variety of restaurants to choose from. Hired a rental car and parking wasn’t a problem and the surrounds were easy to drive through as our trip was based around the Flanders Fields

Ypres is a must for anyone who has an interest in WW1 history or wants to experience Flemish culture. The city is small but there is much to see. I would recommend a 2 or 3 day stop as being sufficient time to get the most out of your visit. The visitor should take the time to visit the tourist office in the market square - a really comprehensive and helpful service. We planned out our visit from there and this allowed us to maximise our time. In terms of culinary delights - Ypres did not fail to deliver!!!
