I recently stayed at The Anchor Inn for $130 per night (with taxes) and wanted to share my experience. Overall, it was a decent stay, with some highlights and a few areas that could have been improved.
The rooms have been nicely renovated and were clean, which I really appreciated. I stayed on the first floor with a view of the ocean, but I did have a personal concern about the balcony. The sliding glass door leading to it felt a bit too accessible, and while I know it’s probably an unrealistic fear, I couldn’t help but feel uneasy thinking someone could climb over the balcony and open the door. It’s definitely more of a personal worry, but it made me feel a bit like I was staying in a motel. As a mom of two young kids, I think I’d feel more comfortable requesting a room on the second floor or higher next time, just for peace of mind.
The pool was a great spot for the kids to enjoy, but unfortunately, the hot tub was closed during our stay. Additionally, both the fitness center and restaurant were not operational, which was not mentioned during booking. I had hoped to make use of these amenities, so it was a bit disappointing not to have them available.
We checked in at 2 pm, and while the hallways initially had a strong cigarette smoke smell, it seemed that the staff had sprayed the halls earlier in the morning to mask the scent. Unfortunately, as the day went on, the smell seemed to worsen, which could be an issue for anyone with respiratory sensitivities. My child had some discomfort from the smell, which was a bit frustrating.
The hallway noise was noticeable, as you could hear conversations and a TV, but the room itself was much quieter. The oceanfront location was definitely a highlight, providing a beautiful backdrop and a great place for the kids to explore.
Overall, my stay was a mixed experience. While the location and room quality were excellent, the lack of amenities and some of the noise issues were less than ideal. I hope the hotel can address the

The staff were friendly and welcoming. I didn’t eat breakfast as I was having surgery that morning, but my husband said the breakfast was good, nice selection.

The bed sheets had evidence that washing wasn't the last thing they had happen to them unfortunately.
The breakfast was great and so was the location. Overall not terrible but not ideal either.

It's an economy motel, but was clean, smelled fine, and had friendly staff, plus it was on the river bank. Way better than most places that charge twice as much.

Campbell River is a great small city with lots to offer every traveler. It's a great city to catch a whale or bear watching tour. The pier is nice to stroll along and maybe get an ice cream in the summer. Elk Falls is spectacular any time of year.

Campbell River is in a beautiful area, surrounded by ferry-accessable islands and to the east and glaciated mountains to the west. There's plenty of fishing and wildlife viewing tours on the ocean, while the mountains are all self-guided. It's only slightly touristy. If you want shows, night life, ect., then go to Vegas. If you think Vegas is gross and are happy to do some bushwhacking to get on a mountain without other people in sight, then it's great. Mt. Washington has great downhill skiing, including a wicked-steep, albeit not that long back side. Mt. Albert Edward's is a great summer hike or winter backcountry ski.

We LOVE to CAMP and to FISH and so Campbell River is the BEST place for both! Campbell River is the Salmon Capital of North America and so if you can't catch fish there you better find another hobby! We always stay at Elk River Provincial Park and take showers at the spotless Community Center in Downtown Campbell River. The shopping is GREAT in Campbell River for anything from avocadoes to tires! You have so MANY stores and restaurants to choose from. We first came to Campbell River in 1990 and we have been back 2 more times since then no matter where we were living in the USA. One caveat, the weather REALLY goes downhill (RAIN) once the month of October arrives.

I have stayed here before so thought I knew what to expect.
I have stayed here before so thought I knew what to expect. The staff were good but the noise construction and stale cigarette smell made me not want to stay on the lower levels. I was fortunate enough to get a room on the 7th floor, you need to be mobile and fit enough to do this as there was no lift. The room was clean and okay but the drilling down the hall in another room was irritating. Breakfast was a shambles, they were busy which is unstable but being asked 3 times what drink I wanted, to have it quoted wrong and then tell me it wasn't available wasn't. Then breakfast came and it was wrong and inedible and the sever came and asked me again what I had ordered. Put all those things together and it made me not want to go back there.Shame because the location is lovely and the staff friendly.

It’s a very chilled place and actually has much more to offer than we originally thought.
There were good eating places but they were quite a walk from the property.
Elk Falls Provincial Park is well worth a visit.

We’ve stayed quite a few times here at the Ramada, it’s a very okay quality/price option in the winter when prices are cut in halves. Although the hotel is run down and not very clean, it’s cozy, there’s a nice view and the staff was extremely helpful and kind. Breakfast buffet offered is generous and tasty. Dog friendly.
The room was spacious, super clean and comfortable, nicely appointed and unbelievably quiet compared to the motels I usually stay at in Campbell River. In the morning, blueberry pancakes and lots of laughs with the other guests and wonderful host Laurie made this my all-time favorite overnight stay in CR.
