I especially appreciated the happy positive staff. I met a nice smiling person when checking in, and another smiling face when leaving in the morning. Those smiles are the impressions that stuck with me :)

An 'offbeat', wildly sophisticated salty sojourn. Captivating and exhilarating. First Rate reception, attention, and focus / consideration throughout stay by hosts Daniel & Bouchra. Outstanding breakfast.

Very nice location & the owners were very nice & informative. Room was actually more like an apartment & breakfast offerings were very good. Easy to find Bo us was seeing bears at Stamp River & seeing the motorcycles for the toy run. Highly recommend the Beaver Hut if in Pirt Alberni
We are from Salt Spring. It was a good change from the island. Port Alberni is small and charming. I can imagine myself and my family living there, though we are happy in Salt Spring. We have always travelled through Port Alberni when we visited Tofino. The lens through which we see the world is that there is beauty everywhere. Vancouver Island as a whole is a gem. Wherever you are , it is beautiful.

It was comfortable accommodation however, we left after one night (we'd booked/paid for 2 nights) because we felt unwelcome, intimidated by the both owners who were rude, angry, argumentative, exacting house rules and generally very unpleasant. They did not say hello and introduce themselves when we arrived, they said 'You're late', we'd scheduled our arrival btw 6-7pm and arrived at 6.15pm. Our 'dinner ' was already on the table but they didn't tell us what it was and instead took us up to our room which was followed by more rules (don'ts). They were sexist, dismissive, frightening people. After a fitful sleep, we felt unsafe and there were no locks on our door, we decided to leave. I summoned courage to knock on the owners door and when I said we were leaving a day early, he smiled said 'thank you for staying with us and shut the door in my face. It was an absolute relief to leave.

We went to Port Alberni specifically to golf.
We went to Port Alberni specifically to golf. The course is lovely. It’s well maintained with the front nine being relatively flat with a creek meandering thru several of the holes. The back nine moves you into a series of gentle climbs in a forest with deer and hawks in abundance. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. Thank you Angie!

I went to Port Alberni in order to go on a boat trip to Bamfield, which was really nice. Port Alberni itself is not really worth visiting, though. There is just a lot of industry and cars everywhere, so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone without a car.

We stayed in Port Alberni as a stopover on our short vacation to the coast; accordingly, it is difficult to assess/review the town. I met one lovely couple while banking and was greatly impressed by their friendliness and willingness to help a total stranger.

Port Alberni is relatively easy to get around.
Port Alberni is relatively easy to get around. Lovely hiking spots and parks. Great sports areas. On the beautiful ocean inlet, with fabulous views. A variety of shops and restaurants. The gateway to the wild west coast. First Nations cultural experiences available.
I would not forget my cell phone charger so that getting around might be even easier with GPS.
My favourite was going on a dog walk with my hosts along a lovely wild path by a stream with waterfall and a beautiful kingfisher.

Excellent location, a stones throw away from the water and walking distance to restaurants and bars. The property was spotlessly clean, the hosts were very friendly and the breakfast was great, there was parking on the street and the neighbourhood was very quiet. Ideal for an overnight stay.
The hotel is nice and clean. I mean really nice and clean. Parking is close to the rooms. They have kitchenettes in the rooms, although I didn't use it. Location is OK.
