Very convenient location, close to the train station and the center of town. The room was spacious, the natural wood furniture was charming, and the buffet-style breakfast was good.
Located in the village of Château d'Oex in the heart of the Swiss pre-Alps, the Bed&Breakfast Lodge Roc et Neige is only 5 minutes' walk from the train station and the center.

I was there for the Ballon festival and it was within perfect walking distance but the traffic getting through the valley can be really bad.
The staff was pleasant, the breakfast was OK, and the the beds were comfortable enough.

We were very fortunate to find a room here for a last-minute weekend getaway. It's a simple, traditional mountain lodge. Family room was large and clean. We arrived too late for the restaurant but the breakfast ((included in the booking) was excellent. Staff was friendly helpful; ski lifts were just across the street. We were truly blow away by the value of this place.

We have enjoyed our stay in the Chamois sooooo much. Touria and Jeff have made us feel welcome and the hotel is soooo cosy! We enjoyed Jeff's fondue enormously and it was a real pleasure to discuss with both of them around a glass before and after dinner.

While my wife took part in dancing courses, I hiked in the nearby mountains and along the Sarine river. Chateau-d'Oex is easy to reach by public transport. The views are great. There are various nice restaurants.

Chateau-d’Oex is a friendly little town with a range of facilities and attractions in the area with decent shops for food, some nice restaurants and cafes and a helpful tourist information office. There are a wide range of locally produced foods including truly excellent cheeses (like Etivaz and also those from Rougemont nearby).

We were there for the festival in L'Etivaz when the cows come down from the high pastures. The shuttle service from Ch. d'Oex was quick and easy. I love just walking around in ch. d'Oex -- they also have a lot of leisure activities - bowling, rafting, cinema, cheese factory, English library with books on sale, local museum, mini-golf, miles and miles of trails of all levels of difficulty, cow bells, easy day trips by foot, car or transport to Gstaad, Saanen, Rossinière (chalet de Balthus), Rougemont, 7-day grocery store, lovely places to picnic. At night the sky is bursting with stars.

A picture postcard rural setting, this stunning location is ideal if you seek peace and tranquillity. Sadly there was no snow during our late December visit however this did not detract from the spectacular vista over the mountains. A car is essential to navigate the dark and isolated roads, especially at night. As we selected self catering accommodation, we ate in mostly apart from a dinner with friends in central Gstaad, about 20 minutes drive away. Grocery shops were a similar distance from our chalet.

It's a lovely real village adjoining the greater Gstaad area. Great skiing especially in the region from Zweisimmen to Schönried but also in Gstaad itself and much nearer, from the Videmanette in Rougemont. Fantastic value for money

We visited to track down my late mother in law's childhood home so it was a very personal trip. We visited in September.
The village is lovely with friendly people and a great selection of amenities including a hospital. The train running right through is both convenient and typical of the region - as a train lover, it was a nice bonus.
The views are spectacular, the air beyond fresh. It felt like stepping into a chocolate box picture or a living postcard. We loved it and will go again as soon as we are able.

Amazing location within 15-60 min driving distance to lots of attractions. Homely accommodation with all appliances you could ask for (WiFi and efficiency of some could be better). Incredibly hot water on demand with great size shower and a second bathroom. Host was really helpful and flexible.
Would come back again! (if can afford expenses in Switzerland! haha)
The friendliness of the Hotel staff. The contact with the local population. The breakfast was excellent (although we were somewhat plagued by flies!)
We would not hesitate to return to the Hotel de la Gare should we return to Chateau-d'Oex in the future.
The town of Chateau d'Oex is beautiful, and the hotel has a good location just a few minutes walk from the centre and with great views along the valley.
