Location is amazing ! Perfectly located right by the slope and by the ski hire ! Staff are friendly and breakfast was sufficient.
Just 300 metres from the Maschgenkamm Cable Car, the Cristal Hotel is right next to the slopes and a ski lift of the Tannenboden/Flumserberg Ski Area.

Excellent location - you can either ski in/out directly from the hotel to the nearby drag lift and then ski across to the main chairlift, or walk 5 minutes (uphill) to a main chairlift. The car park of the main chairlift is directly outside the hotel (that’s how close it is).
We had the 2 bedroom sharing suite as a group of 4 and it was excellent - it had a mini kitchen for coffee and storing of cold food and drinks (in the fridge) and also a lounge area where we could watch TV together in the evenings.
The suite also gave us free access to the wellness suite allowing us to have saunas everyday (as well as the jacuzzi bath in the room) which was lovely after a long day of skiing. The wellness suite is very clean and we had to ourselves the whole week.
Also excellent staff - they let us check out late on the last day (5pm) at a cost and heated the sauna ready for us at 17:30 everyday. Very friendly and welcoming.
The free parking is also ideal. We had a hire car as were meeting friends in a nearby town and also used it to drive down the mountain to the bigger shops (about 15 min drive) to get a cheaper dinner.

You get what you pay for, and the hotel's offerings reflect the price. That being said, the hotel is spotless! My well-sized en-suite room overlooked the beautiful Walensee, and I even had access to a spacious garden—perhaps they gave me this room because of my dog?
The hotel restaurant was excellent—nice atmosphere, efficient service, well-sized tables, a great view of the lake, and a fantastic selection of Swiss food.
Schifffahrt Hotel may not be one of the glamorous hotels you’d find in Dubai, New York, Berlin, Madrid, London, or Vitznau, but at a third of the cost, it ticks all the boxes!
Perfect for a short stay!

Great base for exploring mountains, either within this resort or using neighbouring lifts. Tannenboden area also benefits from a lift down to the lake, which is great for a soak after a long day hiking! Tannenheim is more suited for extensive downhill mountain biking. Skiing the area would be great if you can handle black and red runs.

I stayed just one night here, a tag-on from a weekend with a friend. The actual skiing was really good, with some lovely runs. Not a massive ski area, but more than enough for 2-3 days.
Only down side is that I didn't see many apres bars, but I wasn't really there long enough to explore.
Really easy resort to get to from Zurich Airport - the trains are good and you can easily get the gondola up from Unterterzen train station, making this a good option for a weekend break.

Overall, our stay at this wooden cottage in Flumserberg was a winter dream come true. The combination of a charming home, welcoming hosts, and the enchanting surroundings made our Christmas holiday truly special. If you're looking for a cozy retreat in the Swiss Alps, this is the place to be. We can't wait to return for another dose of mountain magic!
One of the most memorable highlights of our stay was the magical Christmas dinner we shared with our hosts, where traditions from both our home country and Switzerland blended seamlessly. The dining table, adorned with festive decorations, became a symbol of unity as we exchanged stories and laughter over a delectable spread that featured a delightful mix of local Swiss specialties and our favorite holiday dishes.

Flumserberg is an excellent small ski resort which is very well suited for families and small children. Despite the lack of snow in the Alps generally, nearly half of the pistes in Flumserberg are open and the quality of the snow (lots of snow cannons) is surprisingly good.

The region has quite a lot of interesting attractions to offer, as well for the summer as for the winter, altough however it seems like it's more targetted to winter time. Yet there are interesting options for enthusiasts of biking, hiking, trekking and probably also climbing. In Tannenboden one can find a gondola-lift taking at the level of some 2000 meters, where few hiking tracks are available. There is also a chair-lift with which one can go to the lower level and find a chance to go down with sledge-runway, adapted for children (under this link more details on that https://www.flumserberg.ch/en/information/Open-facilities/Summer )
There is quite a lot of hotels around so anyone can find something suitable for the stay. However if you'd like to find youself in the middle of the mountains, with a beautiful lake near, and no civilization at least within 1000 meters around, you should look for Berghotel Seebenalp.
Deifnitely a must-visit place for mountain lovers.

It's a great ski area for 1 or a couple days, for longer stays it may be a bit boring; it's the easiest one to reach from Zurich (of a good size), also with public transport. Great - and growing number of - summer activities too. The view to the Walensee and the Churfisten is priceless.

Whilst the room was not as large as some other hotels, it had a wonderful aspect looking out onto the rest of the village. Breakfast was quite good, although we only were offered scrambled eggs on the last morning of our stay. Special mention of staff member Edit in the resturant who provided us with boiled water and milk for a cup of tea each evening. Provided all the amenities required in a ski lodge. Location was spectacular as only 200m to main gondola and ski in, ski out with just a little more snow.
If you’re looking for a place with everything around the corner (literally) this apartment is the place to be. We hired our ski gear next door, organised lessons next door, crossed the road for the ski lift, and had a drink after skiing in the cafe upstairs. It was just perfect for our family with 3 older children. The apartment is comfortable, warm with a modern shower. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly. I can highly recommend Ferienwohnung Steinröschen.
The apartment, although small, has everything you need for a week of skiing. Location is excellent, the apartment itself has been styled very tasteful, kitchenette is well utilized, the beds are very good, the shower is perfect, and the hosts are the friendliest and most helpful. We immediately felt very much at home! we would definitely consider going back to this apartment for a future week of skiing, or summer vacation.
