Good touristic opportunities in walking distance, like the waterfall, Aare gorge, cable car to go to a village with very nice view of the mountains and a place to drink a coffee, even on Sunday. In town you can have a coffee only in restaurants on Sunday, or in a kind of bar which did not give me a good impression.

Only had a brief overnight stay but found that almost all the shops shut in the middle of Saturday afternoon and are closed on Sundays. Nothing against that, but it’s not ideal for a walking holiday. And the church bell tolls every 15 minutes, all night!

Meiringen is a wonderful place for mountain enthusiasts.
Meiringen is a wonderful place for mountain enthusiasts. It is not nearly as touristic as the nearby Interlaken and offers the chance to enjoy nature including Reichenbach falls, glaciers and the Aare Gorge cozily. A perfect escape location with a real Swiss spirit.

It was a lovely town unfortunately due to the Covid restrictions most shops were close. However Meiringen is centrally located to Interlaken, Lucern, Grimmewald. All within driving distance. Will visit again in summer , hopefully the covid restrictions are no longer there

The location and comfort of the hotel were very good. But I would like to point out that in the evening, I asked the lady at the information desk for just a plate to make food for my baby, but she said that she could not give it to me and that I had to buy it from outside. I asked for it because it was already late and the markets were closed. There was a baby in question and this action of the lady was not nice at all.
It`s an apartment, not a hotel, so I realise it comes with pros & cons.
Pros; Adequate size apartment, big balcony and quite new so everything works and looks good. In the centre of Meiringen so a short walk to the train station, supermarket, restaurants, bars, bakery etc. The onsite grill had good food and pleasant, helpful staff.
This was our 2nd time at Parkhotel du Sauvage. It didn't lose any of its aura and charm. The decor is stunning, the staff are very friendly and it's in a very central location - 7 min walk to the cable car, 2 min walk to the train station and with Sherlock Holmes Museum, skating rink and multiple restaurants and shops around
We liked staying in the hotel. The room is clean, cozy and warm. Friendly staff, delicious breakfast, everything is fresh, and the menu in this restaurant is also very very tasty and the portions are large.
