Located at the foot of the ski slopes, Historic Hotel Falken was one of the first hotels in the Jungfrau region. It offers a music room, a terrace and guided walks.

The view from our rooms was amazing! We overlooked the village, and we were a short walk from the train station and the gondola lift station to Mannlichen. Location was perfect! The rooms were comfortable and large with plenty of space. Delicious daily breakfast and we stayed in for dinner one evening and enjoyed that as well.

Wengen is lovely. We hit bad weather and hardly saw the sun but still enjoyed it. We enjoyed the novelty of the mountain trains. Eating out is fairly typical of eating in a ski resort and being Switzerland it is expensive. There are a few different places, like the noodle place and there is also sushi. Best restaurant was the Baren. Really good food and serivce.

Must rate among the most scenic skiing or summer hiking...
Must rate among the most scenic skiing or summer hiking locations in the world - you're perched above the Lauterbrunnen valley, looking across to Mürren, with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau as a backdrop. The main ski area (Jungfrau-Wengen) is easily accessible by the Männlichen cable-car (starts 8.15, so you're skiing by 8.25) or Kleine-Scheidegg train (25 mins) and is ideal for beginners and intermediates; we found most of the reds not too different from blues, and there are a good number of (very) wide pistes for cruising and (my favourite) several runs through the trees. There are runs right into Wengen and Grindelwald, both in good condition even though there hadn't been a huge amount of snow in the week before we visited (early January). Visiting January 3-10 was also good because we were there after the Christmas crowds and before the Wengen downhill race (the terrifying Lauberhorn); we didn't need to queue even once and rarely shared a chairlift or cable-car with anyone. The only downside - it can get windy and on 3 of our 7 days several of the lifts were closed for periods of the day, but it didn't stop us skiing. We also spent one day over in Mürren (takes about 45 mins: train to Lauterbrunnen then cable-car up to Grutschalp and train again) which is a smaller ski area but definitely worth a visit. Tip: get off at Winteregg for a chairlift that gets you up and skiing more quickly. The Schilthorn cable-car was closed, which was a shame in terms of the experience (we've been in summer - revolving restaurant and 007 film location), but we aren't good enough skiers to have ever contemplated skiing down from there!

Our room was not available or it was double booked so the Hotel upgraded us to another larger room at the same rate. The Hotel is Centrally located to the Alps, which made it easy to get around. Close to hiking trails and the view was wonderful. Breakfast was fresh and very good.

Wengen was a car-free village, so other than electric work vehicles, it was a quiet easy place to get around. Being 12 minutes or so to Lauterbrunnen from a train that runs every 30 minutes was great for getting around the area particularly to Murren/Gimmewald and Interlaken. In addition, the tram to Mannlichen being just a short walk away was incredible for access to hiking and getting to a lot of places like Grindelwald and Jungfraujoch. All in all a great place to use as a base location in addition to exploring.

A beautiful little town with stunning views.
A beautiful little town with stunning views. So many trails, walks and activities. Lots of dining options, we used the local Spar for fruit and sandwiches before hiring trail bikes to cycle to Kleine Scheidegg. The trains run regularly and you can get anywhere quickly and efficiently so it's a good base.

We felt very welcomed the moment we stepped into Hotel Bären. The room was set up in such a cosy and homely manner and our young children loved it. The breakfast spread was wonderful and we enjoyed it very much.
We had dinner twice at Bären restaurant The service and food served is truly outstanding that it certainly belongs to it's number one ranking in Wengen. Our best meals and stays are truly at Hotel Bären and we hope to be back soon!
Thanks to Therese, Billy and team for making our stay absolutely memorable!
We requested a Mountain View and were not disappointed... the view from our balcony was absolutely beautiful. The staff were helpful, breakfast was good, the room was spacious and the beds comfortable...although not the double bed as requested. We initially accessed the hotel via a rather steep "main" road but later found a quaint track from the back of the hotel which led directly into lovely and vibrant Wengen town.
This was one of our best stays. The hotel staff works like a small family and treats customers with utmost care. The location is brilliant, rooms are great, but mostly we enjoyed the food. Although we were vegetarians, the chef prepared mouth watering dishes using fresh herbs picked from hotel garden. Would highly recommend having the 4-course meal during dinner at the hotel.
Large airy room with good furniture. A balcony overlooking the mountain. Very comfy bed and a good breakfast included. Call the hotel on arrival to Wengen station and staff will pick you up. One of the best
Great hotel location in Wengen, staff mostly very pleasant.
We stayed a further 2 weeks (14 nights) directly with the hotel, so this review is not just a ‘one night’ experience
