Loved the authentic accommodation. On the doorstep to all the nature and wildlife you dream of.Kerley and family were wonderful hosts and are passionate about what they do.Very good value, bedrooms were clean with a simple ensuite bathroom but you had everything you needed. The kitchen was very impressive so it was very easy to prepare your own food.if you wanted to..Loved the verandah .We went on bird trips with Kerley, and he looked after us really well.Got some amazing birds and animals and learned plenty from him

Such an amazing place, clean, tidy and well kept, surrounded by intense spectacular jungle and wildlife. The most beautiful river a few hundred feet away from the property is perfect for cooling off in and enjoying a revitalising start to the day. There are so many places to see in the surrounding area, with a choice of walks that can test and experienced hiker or let you take in the breathtaking surroundings at a mellow pace. The rooms are super clean and allow you to feel surrounded by the jungle yet give you large, uncluttered and clean personal space.
I was made to feel so welcome by the staff and volunteers. The two owners were so interesting, genuine and kind, they really care about your experience, Both of them were so helpful and arranged trips and excursions from Dos Bravos (the town) as well as imparting their experiences of places in the country.
Honestly I'm still blown away by my time at Templo Del Tigre, the rich jungle, sunny weather with the occasional tropical down pour, the wildlife, jungle sounds, gold miners and such a beautiful and relaxing place to stay and experience one of the most bio diverse places on the planet. Could not recommend this place more highly.

Everything was to our satisfaction. Dario and Frederika were wonderful hosts and were always there for our needs. Dario also arranged a fantastic guide Jose with whom we could discover many animals, including several sloths!

Suzanne, the host, is very nice, helpful and communicates in several languages. She sent us excellent directions by text message so we wouldn't get lost following her GPS suggestions. Her husband Channy was our tour guide, who is not only very nice but is actually a native of the jungle. He knows all about the local wildlife and tailored a tour for us that would make us maximally happy...and beyond.
The accommodation is not up to my usual European standard of comfort, but no insects or lizards came into the room at night. So I would recommend to everyone that after a refreshing shower you just close your eyes and enjoy the sounds of the jungle. I feel that our trip to Costa Rica was crowned by Channy's fantastic tour!!!
Boasting a swimming pool, a garden, a terrace and views of the garden, Finca Kobo is set in Palo Seco and offers accommodation with free WiFi.

The hosts are welcoming, the grounds are absolutely stunning, and the chocolate tour with Jason was the most informative of its kind that I've ever done (and I've done a few!). It's actually far more than just a chocolate tour - you'll learn about so many other interesting things they are doing there.
Special shout out to Noah, who went above and beyond to meet any request. Thank you!
Oh, and breakfast is fantastic - Jutta's bread is not to be missed!

Wow, hidden gem. We had villa #8 which had a stunning view of jungle and even the gulf in the distance. Villa was clean and modern and the club house is fantastic (games, infinity pool, plus great staff, service and food!) The caretaker Richie is such a nice guy and has great tips for places to visit.
Be prepared this is jungle, which we loved, but that also means if you leave the exterior lights on in evening you'll see spiders the size of your palm and hundreds of bugs!
You can probably get to property with any car but once inside a 4x4 is helpful because the hills are insane.

Beautiful quiet and peaceful location with great balcony for watching the wildlife. Saw so many scarlet macaws, parrots and even a kingfisher from the balcony! Very well equipped kitchen and good shower. A/C worked well and comfy bed. Garden area was lovely and even some bikes to use. Friendly host who gave us some fantastic recommendations!

Lovely quiet and private location with plenty of special birds in the grounds (Bronzy Hermit and Striped cuckoo) and within a few mins walk.
The owner Lily was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our 3 day stay and was flexible with breakfast (which was great!) to allow us to go out birding early. The room was clean and spacious with 2 double beds and there was a pleasant kitchen/dining area that we could use.

Maze Lodge manages to achieve a very authentic, secluded feel whilst also providing all the comforts needed to make a jungle stay more enjoyable (very good AC, running water, wifi, electricity). Alex and Frida were extremely welcoming and were always on hand to assist and even helped with some wildlife spotting - it genuinely felt more like staying in someone’s guest house than a hotel. Despite being relatively close to Puerto Jimenez, it does feel as if you are staying in the middle of the jungle, being awoken by howler monkeys and seeing toucans directly off the balcony. Their recommended Corcovado guide Louis was fantastic and I would recommend booking tours through Maze Lodge. There is a big supermarket in Puerto Jimenez where you can stock up supplies as the Lodge offers excellent cooking options - including a grill on the very scenic deck. I’m excited to see how the pool comes along!
Amazonia's Ecolodge is a true Amazon Rainforest Experience.
Amazonia's Ecolodge is a true Amazon Rainforest Experience. Highly recommend a 4WD to get here especially if it is raining. It is a 20 minute drive from Puerto Jimenez and the last section (about half a mile) can be challenging the first time around. The place is quite remote and a fun place to stay if you want to enjoy the rainforest.
The cabin we stayed in was located in the rainforest on the edge of the Corcovoda NP. There is a kitchen to cook simple meals. The cabin had a refrigerator as well. You can make your own drip coffee. Meals are offered by the caretaker's family in another house downhill on the property. There is no Wifi available in the cabin but is available at the caretaker's house. Recommend having home cooked meals at the caretaker's place. Good food and friendly folks but none of them speak English. We were able to get by with very little Spanish.
A guide is available on request. Guide speaks English and will come to the Ecolodge to arrange and take you on tours. We went on several tours with the local guide and were happy with the service. Saw a lot of frogs on the night walk close to the property.
Overall a pleasant and out of the normal experience. If you love to stay and experience the rainforest this is the place.

A gorgeous community that has retained a local Tico feel; expats and tourists are definitely in the minority. I never felt unsafe even walking alone at night.
Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to walk all the extensive jungle trails in Bolita and the Corcovado National Park. But, those I did walk to led me to magical waterfalls, swimming holes and amazing views.
The wildlife is plentiful. I saw 3 of the 4 monkeys that live in Costa Rica and woke in the morning to the sounds of the 4th, the howlers calling in the distance. Toucans, hummingbirds and macaws are everywhere. Not to mention the incredible number of other slightly less showy birds, amphibians, reptiles and insects.
Dos Brazos was an incredible find and I will definitely be back.

Dos Brazos is a great place to explore the rainforest.
Dos Brazos is a great place to explore the rainforest. There is a wealth of birds an butterflies. Public transport is limited though so if you are wanting to do activities on the beach or on the sea then maybe Puerto Jimenez is better.
