It was a very comfortable stay and the staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. The food was good in the restaurant which accommodated a lot of people. The weather was very wet during our stay and with no heaters in the room it was very difficult to dry our clothes.

Arenal Paraiso Resort Spa & Thermo Mineral Hot Springs is an exotic retreat that offers its guests a complete spa and wellness centre with massages, 2 saunas, and a fitness centre.

The location was ok. The Resort is quite big and the breakfast is organized for big amount of people. We needed to wait in the line to get a table. No matter the time we approached. It is close to La fortuna and all attractions in the area.

Lost Iguana Resort and Spa offers an outdoor pool, a gym and lush gardens with a maze. Each room has views of the Arenal Volcano, located just a 25-minute drive away.

Hotel is OK but this is much too expensive for what it is (+/- 350 EUR/night) We have stayed 1 night in the Sangregado Lodge (+/- 210 EUR) and the room was much nicer and spacious.

The location on the edge of town was great. Location was great for access to all the activities on the volcano side. The view was fabulous and the pool was perfect. The soda across the street was fabulous too!

    First, Fortuna waterfall is well worth the return climb back...

    First, Fortuna waterfall is well worth the return climb back, but keep in mind it is strenuous, but not to be missed. Arenal National Park is good for seeing various birds and other animals such as coatis. We also did the Mistico Hanging Bridge park where we saw a Howling Monkey for the first time but not a lot of other viewings. It is a fairly easy walk, quite picturesque, but was surprisingly expensive compared to the waterfall and Arenal National Park. Sadly we didn't have time to enjoy any of the other activities in the area of which there are many. One not to miss, opposite Tabacon Resort, is a free hot springs river where many of the locals enjoy, but all are welcome. Definite stop.

    We were here for one week and loved the area.

    We were here for one week and loved the area. Could have stayed so much longer. We did several tours with Costa Rican Tours to see sloths and frogs. Saw La Fortuna waterfall, a 500+ step down and back up and then while resting got some nice pics of Toucans in the nearby trees. Visited the Arenal Observatory Lodge, which was an incredible source of unusual bird viewing. Lots of trails there and some waterfalls. We did Baldi Hot Springs but then discovered its not really the mineral rich water we were looking for, so go elsewhere and be sure to read carefully. We visited The Springs Hotel and had early dinner. They offer mineral rich pools from volcano and have a sort of zoo park that we would have loved to see if more time avail. We did a tour to Cano Negro to see birds, monkeys, caymans, etc.

    Had a great time on day trip with Jungle Adventures, books...

    Had a great time on day trip with Jungle Adventures, books through lodging host. Included La Fortuna Waterfall (500 steps down), hike to viewpoint of Arenal Volcano (magnificent), public hot springs. Waterfall was swimmable, but cold in the morning, would have been better to do after the hike. Weather was favorable, sometimes the volcano is shrouded in clouds but we got great views when clear. We had to work hard to keep up with guide and younger group (we are seniors) but made it okay. Public hot springs were not super hot, but enjoyable, be sure to wear aqua shoes as it is in a flowing creek with lots of rocks.

    What a beautiful area!

    What a beautiful area! Lush, stunning and varied vegetation, birds and things to do. This is a very special place. Even when it is cloudy or raining it is a great place to visit, and even more so in the sunshine.

    Town had a nice safe vibe with plenty of eating houses and supermarkets. Nice park in the centre, plenty of ATMs which is good when lots of places want cash only. Easy to book trips from here but tbh the trip we did through the Arenal volcano trail was easy to do without a guide. He didn’t spot much, it was a 2 hour hike but we enjoyed it. Zip wire trip could be booked independently too for info. You could save money this way

    Ziplining in Arenal Mundo was so much fun.

    Ziplining in Arenal Mundo was so much fun. You could see the volano and the waterfalls while ziplining. We also went to the Paradise HOt Springs and it was amazing. The food/dinner was great, and the pools felt so refreshing and healthy. We also got a massage while there and it was the perfect way to enjoy the experience. Hiking was a wonderful experience as well. What a great place to enjoy beauty and nature!

    The kitchen area is great if you are backpacking and want to cook your own food. The hotel staff are so friendly and helpful. This small quiet hostel is in perfect location just a 5 min walk to the bars and restaurants in La Fortuna. I would highly recommend this hostel. It really does live up to its name of a Nice Place!
