Right on the ocean with gorgeous views and a beautiful restaurant/pool area. Great location if you’re hiking in the Paul valley. Also helps to organise a collectivo back to the port if you need it. Staff are also super friendly.

Great new place to stay in Santo Antão. Rooms new with sea views, opening onto a beautiful large top floor terrace with a swimming pool (shared between 3 rooms), with chairs and endless views across the main street in Pombas (the shore of the Paul valley) and across the sea and up into the mountains, one of the most iconic locations on the island.
Nice to be able to sleep and awake with the sounds of waves crashing into the bay (not especially loud and great way to fall asleep), but otherwise incredibly calm and peaceful. Very clean with comfortable bed and a good shower with reliable hot water (something that is a bit hit and miss elsewhere on the island in several other places I have stayed!)
Family run, 2 floors above their own quiet but popular first floor restaurant where owners are friendly and always with a smile on their face (they also have a shop below and can provide taxi service to hikes). Breakfast in the restaurant has lots of options, only too happy to give me fruits, yoghurts, cakes or to cook me home made Cachupa (national dish).
Offering a restaurant, Casa Cavoquinho is located in Paul Valley, in Cabo de Ribeira. Free Wi-Fi access is available. Rooms here will provide you with a balcony and a terrace.

Very clean, friendly people. Breakfast in the room ❤️. Near to beautiful nature and hikes. Next to supermarket , near bank and several restaurants
Lovely small town by the coast close to mountain trails.
Lovely small town by the coast close to mountain trails. We stayed 5 nights but would have happily stayed another couple of nights.
Good restaurants in town including an authentic Italian place run by an Italian and serving home-made pasta with tables on his terrace. He has a wonderful model town, that he has made himself, on display for you to look at while waiting to order. Casa Maracuja served good local cuisine and we also enjoyed the food at Paladar where they serve cachupa. We had a rental car, but there were also alughers available for transport to Porto Novo, the ferry port.
