Very nice city, vibrant and beautiful. The scenery is amazing. People are nice and friendly. There are multiple restaurants and places to visit. Willemstad is a great Caribbean experience, with a lot of history. As a Dutch person I will always feel the connection, even though the colonial part is not always something to be proud of. People are open to visitors, so they're willing to explain every single thing you ask them. Prices of food and souvenirs are fair. Pleincafe near Wilhelmina Park was a great place to eat. To my suprise it was great, very cheap and I went to all my destinations on my list. From the beaches to shopping places. Willemstad is a diamond in the rough.
Willemstad is a diamond in the rough. It is a lovely city on a beautiful island. The restaurants were incredible. We had a car rental, because we wanted to explore the whole island. It was easy to get around; however, be prepared for dirt roads (if you go off the main roads), hills (very surprising) and quick daily rainfall. We visited several beaches. Our favorite was Grote Knip. I had a massage there...heavenly. Most people speak English, so communication should not be an issue. Only one caveat: skip the shopping area at the Fort.
