The ambiance of the hotel is great as always but room design is problematic. at least the large room type. You can get tortured by the sound of water droppings.
Shower cabin is separated from the room by glass and not covered from top, which looks fine. But if you want to have a shower at night you have to listen water dripping for many hours. It was ridiculous, so disturbing.
And only solution offered from the reception was to change the room in the middle of the night.
that is not really solution since it may occur in other room too.
I highly recommend them to take this problem seriously.

Breakfast: Food was fine, not great. It was overloaded with people. Understandable that you cant do anything about this, however, the staff during breakfast hours was awful and was enough to tell our group, to never book with Dorint.

Founded by the Romans in 38 BC and idyllically located on the Rhine River, Cologne offers the perfect blend of historical and modern Germany. There’s no place more picturesque to drink a Kolsch beer and eat a schnitzel than on the banks of the River Rhine. Here you’ll find the Altstad, or Old Town, with the impressive Cologne Dom on the skyline.
Visitors to Cologne in November can dance the days away at the Carnival Parade. In December, no trip to Cologne’s magical Christmas markets is complete without a steaming mug of Gluhwein.
The charm extends to other seasons as well, thanks to the medieval wonders of the Cologne Cathedral and the Twelve Romanesque churches. Learn about the city’s history at the Roman-Germanic Museum or take a postmodern approach at Museum Ludwig. Whether historic or culinary, a trip to the Chocolate Museum can complete any tour.
Booking.com offers 260 different accommodations, ranging from apartments to mid-budget hotels to guest houses. So whether you’re stepping out of a plane at the Cologne Bonn Airport or a shop on Hohe Strasse, you will be sure to have a cozy room for those cool European nights.

Cologne has a lot of history and culture to offer to the city enthusiast. Plenty of city walks. The cathedral is great and is located right next to Cologne train station. The people are great and there are plenty of choices in terms of hotels. The Lindt Chocolate museum is a must do for any chocolate lovers. All in all a fab city.

Great Kolsch scene in the brewery bars.
Good food in terms of both taste and value in the same establishments.
Excellent kebabs all around the old town
Less happy with the amount of emails generated by Booking.com and the hotel for a simple 2 night stay. Absurd amount.

Cologne Cathedral is really interesting to visit. The Christmas Markets are fantastic, particularly the 2 large ones in the old town and near the Cathedral. We went to visit 2 and ended up visiting 6 in total.

A very cozy city with very authentic experiences to offer.
A very cozy city with very authentic experiences to offer. I would say 2-3 days are quite enough to slowly explore everything and enjoy local culture. I think best experience is to visit when it's the carnivals period.

Centro Hotel Royal said "we will not be officially running the houses as a hotel in 2024 and will therefore not be available. We will therefore rebook you to the partner Hotel Boutique 003 in Cologne". So we stayes at Boutique 003. The location of the hotel was excellent. The size and cleanliness of the room were above my expectations. Everything was fine.
Fabulous location a couple of minutes from the cathedral and about five minutes from the main railway station. Extremely comfortable room, great shower, friendly staff and an exceptional level of cleanliness. Very highly recommended for great value accommodation in the heart of Cologne. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel but it did look really good.
The spa was the best feature of the hotel but unfortunately as an Irish man i wasnt use to nudity in a spa and as a result only visited the spa once. I spoke to my German friends who said this was normal in Germany. I can't really complain about that but wish i knew before booking as we only stayed in this hotel to use the spa.
