The hotel is in an ideal location (easy walk to the German Shoe Museum), but Hauenstein isn't exactly big. If you're there for hiking, it's well situated for that as well. It was a comfortable hotel with a good restaurant and excellent breakfast. They even have an EV charging station (if that's a need). I think it's over priced, especially for mid-November, but many of the hotels in this "spa" town seem to be. It was the most expensive hotel room we had in our 24 day vacation, including cities such as Heidelberg, Frankfurt, and Munich.

Wry convenient location for traveling from Belgium to Austria for an overnight stop. However, we had hoped to hike from the hotel into the forest but this was not really possible.
