We've stayed at the Schloss Hotel several times over the years. It's a beautiful old hotel just down the street from the Castle. Staff, breakfast, and parking were all great. We walked to a small pub for dinner and the food was excellent, although the people there didn't speak much English. From Braunfels, it's only and hour or so to the Rhine river valley and the scenery along the way is spectacular.
