We were looking for a place to stay for 3 nights for our wedding at the Ærøskøbing town hall. We drove from Germany. This stay exceeded our expectations and left us with wonderful memories, thanks to the host (Kristine) and her daughter. It was like staying at a friends or relatives place. Both of them were witnesses for our marriage and showed us around the island in the same and following days. Kristine made us also some delicious pancakes for breakfast ! We wish to return some time again in summer !
Featuring a bar and views of inner courtyard, Hotel På Torvet is an aparthotel situated in a historic building in Ærøskøbing, 1.5 km from Ærøskøbing Strand.

A very small room and a tiny kitchen. A steep staircase to the rooms. Never met the host.
No breakfast. Clean though.
Not the best experience on our trip.
This large hotel is 10 minutes' walk from central Marstal on Ærø Island. It offers spacious rooms with free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV. A free indoor pool is open during summer.

It was a very bad hotel. You will not go there. Next time, I will never go to this hotel. They take extra money from everyone.

I went there with low expectations because of the lack of pictures but simply this house has everything you can imagine you might need, it is so clean and near to the beach

Easy to get to from Svendborg on the ferry. We got the train from Copenhagen to Svendborg - on time and very straightforward. Beautiful island - in early September - very quiet and peaceful. Lovely walks from the town of Ærøskøbing and we hired great bikes from the guy at Andelen. Lovely countryside cycle up to Soby - very small - had lunch at the harbour. Cycle paths are great and easy to follow. Restaurant Mumm had amazing food and the cafe Den Gamle was our favourite. Just need to plan ahead a bit as some of the other eateries close very early or don't open on Sunday at all.

I was had a plan to go see another area of Denmark after this and changed my mind and booked another stay on this island to extend my trip here before returning to København and then home to Canada. There are things to do, and plenty of time and space to not have things to do, too.
Lovely patios with amazing simple but tasty food. And the architecture and lovely little details on these homes and business store fronts are just charming. The movie theater is so adorable, and worth a visit. They play movies in their original language (often English) with Danish subtitles.
This village of Ærøskøbing is right out of a modern twisted fairy tale adventure and the proximity to the beach is always a plus. As an English speaker, I'm not having issues communicating, although I am trying to practice some Danish speaking when I have the vocabulary. As someone not traveling by car, the free bus that runs on e an hour has been a blessing.
I will have to come back here again to this charming place. It's a little slice of heaven without the extreme summer temperatures.

Ærø in general is such a beautiful island and perfect for a long weekend or week to stay. The island has changed over the years and you find more small makers and creatives on the island which makes ist even nicer to stay there, apart from the outstanding scenery and landscape. Locals are very friendly and make guests feel at home. I hope to visit soon again.

A beautiful city with very kind people.
A beautiful city with very kind people. It is a place where people don't even lock their doors because they trust each other. The atmosphere is a mix out of farytale and old fisher town. We will come back very soon!

The place is beautiful and well kept. Peaceful, with a great garden to relax. Breakfast was great. It's located in a very nice small village, and the free buses that go around the island stop right in front of the hotel, so it's very easy to move from there. There are not many dining options nearby, but the hotel restaurant is very good. Staff was great, and gave good recomendations for visiting the Island.
A charming hotel in an old house close to the city center and the bay.
Excellent meals, friendly service, stylish and atmospheric interiors, quietness, large bathroom, comfortable bed. The hotel has its parking lot, but it is possible to park on a nearby street too.
We loved literally everything, the island was beautiful as a whole, everyone on the island was so friendly and lovely to us, the hotel staff were also incredibly helpful and patient with us on our way to the café and always answered any questions we had.
