The place was lovingly restored and very tastefully decorated. The setting was simply stunning, couldn't have been more beautiful. The host was so nice to tell us about the history of the place and her family. We were able to book on a short notice and were still welcomed, very flexible.

We truly enjoyed the castle - a gorgeous building with a history, and the rooms with authentic details.
The surrounding landscape in the morning sun, the silence, the moat and a flock of visiting birds - few of those hard to put in words experiences that one only needs to try.
The service - just wonderful. At the time of our arrival it was already dark and we needed to ring a bell next to the reception. There was likely a dinner service ongoing as we then saw a lady coming out from the next, the main building of the castle and through a court yard to help us out. Despite our late arrival and even though she must have been in a hurry, she was the most kind and helped us to get started in no time, still in a warm, welcoming manner.
The cozy, wintery breakfast - the breakfast which needed to be ordered the evening before, was served for a handful of guests in one of the larger rooms in the castle wing. It was decorated in wintery fashion with number of small candles, and Christmas decoration too - and was one the most wonderful experiences on our trip. The lady who remembered we had arrived late, reminded us to see the museum and buildings too. We did - and are happy for doing so .
We only wish we could have stayed longer.
I didn't explore the village of Ørbæk much. I know there's places for gas, groceries, and a decent bakery. Also a place that serves burgers and kebab.
I spent most of my time riding a bike on the old rail-line between Ringe and Korinth about half an hour to the west that has been converted into a multi-use nature path or relaxing in the peace and quiet of the B&B outside the village.
