Ry is a great base for hiking on the trail from Aarhus to Silkeborg. There are numerous trails on both sides of the lake and they are incredibly picturesque. I recommend going in the shoulder season when the weather is cooler and there are less people. Also try and time a trip with the secondhand market that is in the carpark of the supermarket.
