Alatskivi – 5 hotels and places to stay

Located in Alatskivi and with Estonian National Museum reachable within 38 km, Alatskivi Castle provides a tour desk, non-smoking rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a terrace.

My sister and I were the only guests. We were provided with the key to the Castle for entry. The owner of the hotel of the Castle met us personally. They made us breakfast themselves. I had checked off just about all the available items for breakfast, and was provided with appropriate portions of each item. As we were the only guests, we were asked whether we wished to have dinner at the hotel, and if so, to advise them and they would accommodate. When we indicated that we wished to experience a local restaurant, a recommendation was provided. It was excellent. Definitely a memorable experience. Jaan & Maia S.

Really great place! If the weather is right feels like southern resort with lake and small beach and green grass and the sauna boat. House is big enough with everything needed for holiday. Hosts were staying at the property and were ready to help!

    The hostess was great.

The hostess was great. They provided additional information regarding a tour of the castle and the area. The breakfast menu was provided the evening before and it was extensive. I checked off just about everything on offer and then worried it would be too much, but the portions were adjusted accordingly, and thus I was delighted to have been able to taste all of what was offered. As for the area...restful.

We were visiting Alatskivi for family reasons but had time to look around. Alatskivi castle is fabulous and village itself is charming. I was visiting the graveyard, it's such a peaceful and beautiful old graveyard with old gravestones. Kivi kõrts (a pub) has an excellent location and we bought all meat pies for takeaway :)

The building is really special and as there are so few rooms and staff leaves for the night, I always get the feeling that I live there. Of course there is no aircon. Staff is friendly and the food is good. The restaurant is not always open, so that's something to check out ahead of time as the options are limited. There is a nice path to walk behind the manor house and a nearby swimming spot. A great place to stay to explore the surrounding region.

The castle is set in lovely grounds with lakes and a footbidge leading to the forest. The location and the service are superb. An excellent choice if you want to enjoy comforts of civilisation a few steps away from old forests with foxes and bears :)
