DON'T THINK TWICE - BOOK NOW FOR ONE OF THE BEST EXPERIENCES OF YOUR LIFE!
I can honestly say this was one of the best travel experiences my wife and I have ever had.
Going into it, we didn't quite know what to expect, but from the moment you arrive you're greeted by STUNNING, other-worldly views and some of the kindest people you'll ever meet. It's almost like being at a tropical summer camp!
We stayed in a bure and found it very comfortable and spacious. Every day you're provided with 3 incredible, homemade, buffet-style meals at 8am, noon and 7pm (plus tea time around 3pm). You can also purchase water, drinks and snacks.
Throughout the day you can swim in the 87 degree water, snorkel, relax in a hammock, play soccer/volleyball or just hang out at the central common area and chat with the staff and guests from all over the world. Waya Lailai also provides incredible daily activities for a small fee - guided sunrise/sunset hike (INCREDIBLE VIEWS), snorkeling with reef sharks, visiting the local school and village, fishing (your catch might be used for dinner!), and a medicine walk.
But the thing that truly makes Waya Lailai special is the people. TaiLo and her staff make you feel like family. They are warm, kind, gracious and funny! We miss them already and will definitely be coming back in the future.
If you are questioning whether or not to stay here, don't! Book it! You won't regret it!
**If you want to see more of Waya Lailai, I'm working on creating a Youtube video that should be live in the next couple of weeks. You can watch at: Youtube.com/JacksonMeyer

We had the most incredible stay at Mai Sunset Island Resort in Fiji, and I can’t recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, the warm hospitality of the staff made us feel like family. The resort is a true paradise, nestled on a pristine beach with swaying palms and crystal-clear waters that seem to glow at sunset—hence the name, and it absolutely lives up to it!
Our bure was a perfect blend of traditional Fijian charm and modern comfort, with a cozy bed, stunning ocean views, and an outdoor shower that felt like a little slice of luxury under the stars. The food was a highlight—fresh, local ingredients crafted into delicious meals, with the coconut ice cream being an unforgettable treat. The compulsory meal plan was worth every penny, offering a variety of dishes that showcased Fijian flavors.
The activities were endless and so much fun—snorkeling over vibrant reefs, kayaking along the shore, trips to the local village or just lazy stroll along the beach. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every experience was seamless, always with a smile(thank you Male, Nivi, Ave, Vinie, Rauga).
What truly sets Mai Sunset apart is its serene, intimate vibe. It’s not overcrowded, so you feel like you’re in your own private oasis. The connection to Fijian culture was also special—learning about local traditions and seeing the care put into every detail made the stay meaningful. If you’re looking for a place to unwind, reconnect with nature, and create memories that last a lifetime, Mai Sunset Island Resort is pure perfection. I’m already dreaming of my next visit!

Gorgeous island - beautiful beaches, coral reef, and the island itself is lovely - you can go on a mountain forest walk as well as be on the beach. Delicious food, and lots of activities - we enjoyed the mountain walks, the beaches, diving, snorkelling and also just relaxing by the pool, trying out the yoga classes and massages and also the trips to the nearby local villages.

Beautiful small island resort - the bush walk recommended.
Beautiful small island resort - the bush walk recommended. Eating was at the restaurant with a set menu. The ferry takes 3 hours - next time perhaps the helicopter would be better so we didn't have to stay on the mainland a night at each end.

We loved Paradise cove - the snorkelling was amazing from right outside the hotel and the trips we went on were well organised. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The restaurants well organised and the food was delicious. The rooms were large and the beds were comfy. Air con was excellent and not too noisy. There was also an onsite nurse, which was a massive plus. Great communication before we arrived - we booked a transfer back directly with the hotel, so we didn’t miss our flight from the mainland.
We are a couple and have travelled a lot around the world and stayed at unique Lux hotels, major 5 star chains, and everything in between.
This holiday was all about unplugging from work and relaxing in paradise. It was great. Rooms are so much bigger than they look in the photos, and maintained well. It’s not super high end but the location (the cove) where you can literally see hundreds of amazing fish (snorkeling) right outside your room is amazing.
It’s expensive, but it’s paradise.
Amazing locality. Unbelievable food but best of all is the staff. From Male, Saula and the team in the restaurant to Knox, Bill, Sale and Joe in the Bar. Sissi in the office and the entire dive shop team we felt loved and served in a way we have never felt at a hotel before. It is their hard work and dedication to the forgotten art of service that makes this place so special and we will definitely be coming back as soon as possible.
Fantastic location, fabolous staff. Enjoyed a 5 star Japanese restaurant on site. Snorkeling just in front of the hotel. Lots of water activities facilitated by the staff. A true gem.
