United KingdomSuper welcome from host Paul. Fabulous room, beautifully decorated and well appointed. Best shower yet. Beautiful town and vue from room spectacular. Not much open on Monday night but ate in super crêperie recommended by Paul. Wonderful breakfast - lovely fresh fruit salad, Greek yoghurt and fresh hot boiled eggs. Plus lots of bread and pastries.

Lots of information about the local area provided for guests and there was a cosy lounge to relax. The village was very peaceful.

Delightful historic town with a chateau and many 16th century houses which have been well maintained. There are information plaques on many of them and it is easy to walk round the town which has a river/canal as well as parks. There is a good choice of places to eat from restaurants to cafes, bars and creperies. The river is beautiful and the castle/chateau is an imposing backdrop. The old town behind the castle had lots of interesting old buildings, shops and museums. A marvellous view of the castle opened up as we drove round the town. We visited the castle and it was a fine spot. The town itself is full of character with charming half timbered properties in profusion. The church is also worth a visit. The road around the town is one way so as you go up from the river around the castle and up the Main Street you have to give way to pedestrians which means a slow careful drive taking in all the sights, great. This wasn't good as we were cycling. Luckily we found Le 14 St Michel and preferred the personal touch of a B&B in a delightful home to a standard hotel. Breakfast was lovely with homemade produce.
