Alkham – 5 hotels and places to stay

Striking and modern, The Marquis of Granby is a former village pub that offers contemporary dining and chic rooms, all amid beautiful Kent countryside near Dover, Folkestone, Canterbury and Ashford.

We stayed in the Sir Thomas Berridge room. Top floor at the back of the hotel away from the road. Lovely and quiet room, large and bright. The shower was a little tricky as it was over a large freestanding, deep, roll top bath, with the controls a bit away. Other than that it was great. Huge comfy bed and good air conditioning if you need it. Staff were fabulous and the food was superb. Breakfast was so delicious in the morning. Definitely would recommend this place if you want to feel treated.

With free parking and air-conditioned rooms, this hotel is 1 mile from Folkestone Eurotunnel terminal and a 20-minute drive from Dover Port. Wi-Fi is free in the public areas.

30% more expensive and a new car park charge. Unfortunately the team were too busy and left us waiting for our meal by mistake and clients had to have sharp elbows to get served. Overall a disappointing feeling this time.

Featuring a bar and views of sea, The London & Paris Hotel is located in Folkestone, 500 metres from Folkestone Beach.

I have to say this is one , if not the best weekends away we have ever had. The hotel is amazing. We booked the Executive suite, and it was absolutely stunning. The staff were all really nice and couldn't do enough for you . And the breakfast..........it was incredible, easily the best breakfast we have had. The chef is an absolute legend!!! Would 100 percent recommend staying here , and we will definitely be returning for another visit. 11 out of 10 Lee and Tracy xxx

Only 5 minutes’ walk from Folkestone town centre, View Hotel Folkestone is a 4-star boutique hotel that features The Cliffe Restaurant & Bar and sea views.

The hotel was great, very clean and a big comfortable bed with amazing views! The only thing I disliked was that you could hear others opening and closing their doors which was a bit noisy and meant I didn’t sleep great.

The 4 Star Best Western Premier Dover Marina Hotel & Spa is a seafront hotel in Dover, Kent and a short distance from Canterbury.

Perfect location, the view was fantastic. Room was clean and bright, bathroom was tidy and clean with fresh towels and gorgeous smelling toiletries. We ate in the bar and food was good value. Staff were very friendly, they allowed us an extra hour in the car park after checking out which was helpful.

There are plenty of towels and complementary soapes and shampoo to use if needed. There's fans available in the passage way to take if needed. There is a hairdryer, coffee, and tea facilities in the room. Board games on the landing and iron ironing board faiplay they thought of everything. Well done! Would definitely stay again.

Alkham is a quiet little village with only the pub, church and park. Perfect to get away when you need A break. The food is to die for! The drinks options are amazing and the staff now how to look after you. Dover and Folkestone are between 10-15 minutes away and easy access to everything. Hidden Jem!

A very pretty Church - a very busy main road with very fast traffic & it was late in the day so we didn’t venture very far! A few walks were visible from the road but walking bouts required on the day of our visit.

The views are very fine from the hotel, and the nearby narrow street and church invite exploration. The hotel is comfortable enough, very clean and professionally managed.
