Well positioned for walking. Plenty of eating places.
Well positioned for walking. Plenty of eating places. We ate at Luigi's a cute Italian that is dog friendly and provide blankets for dogs comfort. Lovely food and good value. Most pubs in the area allow dogs and we recommend the badger bar on the main road.

Very nice little town, excellent for walking and biking, expensive to eat out and shopping as you would expect there, roads very busy at a weekend, avoid in the holidays or get up very early to avoid the crowds, would definitely go back as we love the lakes and the weather was great for a change.

Ambleside is a lovely location in the Lake District.
Ambleside is a lovely location in the Lake District. Lots of local walks and some fantastic views and some historical buildings, Plenty of cafes and pub/restaurants. There is great public transport to other areas in the Lake District. The ferries across to Bowness and Windermere are regular and very scenic.

Ambleside is ideal for a one night stay.
Ambleside is ideal for a one night stay. Lovely small quaint village, with a couple of walks close by to suite all capabilities.
Waterfall walk is a great walk to do with young kids, and there is also a small crazy golf, pitch and putt to keep them busy for an hour or two.
There are loads of great country pubs to rest your legs and have a quick pint, without having to walk more than a couple of seconds to the next one.
Loads of , coffee shops, bakeries, and eateries to choose from.
Great breakfast in the Ambleside Inn, £9.50 for a full English.
