Set in Barrow in Furness and with Furness Abbey reachable within 5 km, Holiday Inn Express - Barrow-in-Furness offers express check-in and check-out, non-smoking rooms, a restaurant, free WiFi...

Breakfast was good for people that eat meat Nice stay overall Meals -half price offers were more reasonable for what you get. Nice pizza Big tip- You need to put origami on your pizzas for a perfect 10 taste, or offer mini sachets for people to add on for personal taste. Good leaflets of what is available around area within walking distance. Fairly good location though would be even better if you had a hotel overlooking one of the lakes or the sea Good stay overall, though :)

The family-run Derby Hotel is situated in the heart of Barrow-in-Furness, less than half a mile from the Rail Station.

Brilliant stay, lovely clean room and hotel. Very friendly staff, especually Mel, always on hand if any help was needed. Room was all that was needed, very comfy bed, perfect pillows and very powerful shower. The live music was really good and didn't hear it from room 9 where we stayed. Was lovely to be able to open the windows and let a breeze in unlike other hotels I've stayed in. Will be booking again for a couple of months time as a perfect weekend break from daily life.

Stopped here a few times now and I couldn’t recommend it enough, comfy bed, everything you need in the room, good location, clean, nice shower and lovely staff. Nothing to dislike, the door key wasn’t working but called the number and they sent someone out straight away to help.

Are was so clean and lovely just like it’s people.

Are was so clean and lovely just like it’s people. Very well-mannered and professional. We went to beach where was only 7mins drive from the hotel, ordered chinese takeaway within the area, lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance, play area just near the hotel private car park. If you are Catholic, there’s also a church 2mins walk away. More places to go to but sadly, because of the rain, we were not able to walk around much.

    Dead town, do not go.

Dead town, do not go. Even the locals told us "there is absolutely nothing to do here unless you like pubs". They were not wrong. Half the restaurants were closed, no high streets. I think locals go to Tesco for fun. Go to Ulverston.

Town is extremely ugly and there is absolutely nothing to do there. The nature is very nice, and that is the only reason why we decided to go there. I honestly think I have never been in a more depressing town in the UK.

Barrow in Furness is not a holiday location compared to...

Barrow in Furness is not a holiday location compared to Blackpool, Skegness, etc., and the town centre is rundown—clean but rundown. Everyone was friendly and, from a Bar point of view, relatively cheap. I can highly recommend Dodona restaurant for a lovely Greek meal! If you are in the car, everything is on tap: Costa, Maccies, BK, Cinemas, JD Sports, Sports Direct, ASDA, LIDL, ALDI, Tesco, B&Q and loads of other types of shopping centres. Car parking is readily available in all areas, and the town centre parking has both Ring and cash options. The area is highly industrialised in my eyes, and it's quite a trip to the beach—but at least there is a nice cafe. If you are up for a walk, there is a Pub on the beach, but it's a good 30 minutes' walk. I recommend staying outside the area for a holiday (Roanhead Bech, for example), as there are loads of options available - Camping, Caravaning B&B Hotels and some Static caravans (All the beaches are Dog-Friendly from what I saw). Barrow has everything you need from a shopping point of view. So you won't go without anything. There are loads of oneway systems in the town, so consider that when driving around.

Just a couple of days during poor weather was a little boring as there were not enough activities (adults or kids). During the summer, and knowing whre to visit, this would be an excellent location. Hotel I stayed at was high class / great value.

We went specifically to explore Walney Island, the Wildlife Reserve, and the surrounding area. Walney was busier than I expected, the Reserve was delightful, and we also visited Askham, Millom, Ulverston and the Morecambe Bay coastline.

The hotel is located in a lovely quiet area and although it is not right in the town centre, it's on the main bus route into the town with a bus stop just across the road. There is also ample parking at the back of the hotel, if traveling by car or motorbike. The room was clean and comfortable, the continental breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice of cereal and pastries. I only stayed for one night but I plan to visit the Barrow again and explore the area. I will be more than happy to stay at The Chetwynde again.

Oscars bar was brilliant, the food was lovely and even though we were sat in the bar we were still treated the same as the restaurant guests. This meal was the highlight. The grounds were nice and it was a good escape and nice distance from Barrow in Furness, we briefly visited the town but didn't like it there, was very different to the hotel. The staff were all very friendly. The breakfast the following day was very well done and great service.

Clean, close to everything I needed in Barrow, convenient parking, great communication from staff. Loved the wall mounted TVs especially in the bedrooms. WiFi was fast. All in all much more comfortable and spacious than a hotel. Will definitely come back, couldn't recommend it more

Simple but good value hotel. Clean; staff friendly and helpful. It's right in the town centre and low cost parking is available nearby. Nice sunny terrace outside for an evening drink.
