Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, great ambience, and a beautiful 2km walk by the river which suited my dog perfectly. The dog was truly welcomed and I would thoroughly recommend the Sandford Arms to anyone travelling with a dog.

A great find, centrally located right next to the church. We were very impressed with the fresh produce left for us, and loved sampling the herbal teas. The Suma products were lovely and very eco friendly, including shower products. A really nice place to stay

Set 37 km from Askham Hall, 6.8 km from Brough Castle and 32 km from Whinfell Forest, Old Croft House offers accommodation situated in Kirkby Stephen.

This is a fabulous bed and breakfast in the heart of Kirkby Stephen. The owners are very friendly, helpful and welcoming and I loved my two night stay here on a break in my coast to coast walk. My room was extremely comfortable, (had the single with separate private bathroom which was wonderful) and the whole building is decorated beautifully. Breakfast was superb! I’d definitely recommend and would love to return.

Unspoilt, unpretentious, relaxed small town with friendly people and fabulous cafe by the river. Great location for Cumbria and Northumberland, for walking and sightseeing. Solo travellers will feel at home here.

The 300 Yr old coaching inn has been renovated to a very high spec! No expense has been spared in this gem of a hotel. We stayed for two nights and would go back in a heartbeat. The staff are lovely and can't do enough for you. We had two breakfasts and one evening meal. The food is sublime. With the hotel being in Brough, just off the A66. We found it ideal for access to plenty to do. Castles galore and walks to suit everyone. Despite everything being very high end, the prices are very reasonable. We can't sing its praises enough.

This hotel was taken over, refurbished to a high sec, and reopened in March 2024, so everything is spotless. The staff are super friendly and extremely helpful. The food was outstanding. We visited during July 24, and the weather wasn't great. All i can say is it was dryish, the hotel was, if anything, too hot, which is not a complaint

A very helpful hotel, they were happy to go above and beyond. We had an early check in, which enabled us to get changed before an event. We had a great choice for breakfast which was cooked very well and thoroughly enjoyed.

As I was travelling solo it was good to feel more like a house guest than a client in an impersonal hotel. I enjoy the warm ambience of personal photographs and antique artefacts in this village home.
