Excellent breakfast, I like how it's laid out, both the food and the dining room. I love how the hotel retains an atmosphere from the early twentieth century yet is firmly in the twenty-first! The best of both worlds. This includes an unspoiled location where they respect and take care of the grounds, strong connection with the local community and, most importantly, very friendly staff. The second time I've stayed, and I intend to return.

Everything, the cabin, the hot tub, the location, the owners were nothing but friendly. Fire and hot tub lit on arrival, a good central location with some stunning parts of Devon 30 minutes away. Not to forget the home made brownies and cider on arrival!

The hostess was exceptional. She met us at the house and surprised us with a welcoming package, also with milk in the fridge and other considerate extra touches. So warm and welcoming that you felt that you were coming back home to visit your family. We will definitely be back.

Owners are really friendly and welcoming, place looks really awesome, nature around is marvelous. It's remote but quite central in fact, you can access to a lot of cool locations in less than 30 minutes by car.

All good with large comfortable rooms with terraces.
All good with large comfortable rooms with terraces. Food of high quality, with gourmet choices. We chose to eat Sunday lunch on our last evening which was as mistake, as it was the unappealing leftovers from the buffet lunch, when they served over 80, many locals

Chumleigh is a lovely village, and the locals were so friendly and welcoming. This is our second visit, and we will be returning in July for the summer fair.
Loved the Dairy Cafe & the local bakery was amazing so we stocked up with goodies to bring home with us.

A map might suggest that Chulmleigh is a bit remote but it has a good road north and south. Whole area is surrounded by many friendly pubs serving good food at fair prices.
Stick to the main roads as much as possible and take longer routes, despite SATNAV, as many other roads are extremely narrow with frequent traffic.

Excellent Breakfast Selection .
Excellent Breakfast Selection . Slightly disappointed that at the Evening Meal the Menu was the same. My Wife loved the surrounding Garden.
i was taken ill on our first night - My Wife asked for help-very quick response by members of the Staff including the Joint Owner and a former Nurse taking me to the nearest Hospital and where I had excellent treatment . Many members of the Staff asked how I was getting on during the balance of our Staff. They could not have been more helpful and friendly.
Have already mentioned to friends what a marvellous facility there is at the Fox & Hounds at Eggesford.

Unspoilt pretty village with lots of history in architecture and only coat of arms to Charles 1 st . Good local store, newsagents and hairdresser amongst others. Ideally situated to explore central Devon whilst been accessible to the coast and Exeter. Good food to be had in local pubs at reasonable prices.

On the first morning, we were sent to 'The Dairy' just across the road which was good considering the owner's wife was poorly & he was struggling on his own to provide food & drinks. We were the only guests staying at the time so we understood due to the struggle so many of our businesses are having across the country the expense implications of employing staff to serve only 2 guests. Support this hotel 100% for working so hard to keep their business open despite the struggle they are up against.
The hotel isn't run by many people, but the staff they do have put in a real shift, they were all very friendly and helpful, giving us local recommendations etc. The morning breakfast was good, and this is by far the most dog friendly hotel you'll ever go to.
