This is our 8th or 9th stay at the Crown Inn - we love it! Coniston is a beautiful village in the Lakes, smaller and quieter than some other places. It’s a lovely scenic drive there and has easy access to walks, drives etc. Excellent staff, friendly and helpful and know what they are doing. Breakfast is great; pub food lunches and dinners all good quality, decent range of beers and well stocked bar. Nice mix of locals and visitors - and lots of awesome dogs.
Some of the best, most comfortable Inn-style accommodation we’ve stayed in. Very clean, thoughtfully planned to provide comfort, storage, tea/coffee facilities etc.
Also has on-site (free) parking, which we’ve come to appreciate in comparison to many other places.
Providing garden views, The Old Rectory in Coniston features accommodations, a garden, a terrace, and a shared lounge.

Our hosts were wonderful…directing us to a footpath walk to a nearby pub restaurant for dinner that was quite sufficient. Room was comfortable, breakfast substantial, location idyllic with sheep and cows in the pasture and beautiful flowers.
Next to Coniston Water, The Coniston Inn - The Inn Collection Group has lawns running down to the lake shore and a restaurant with spectacular mountain views.
Located in Coniston, 9.1 miles from Lake Windermere, YHA Coniston Holly How provides accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace.

Perfect location for exploring the Furness fells!
Arrived at 10am and booked my car in on the log in system then went hiking for 7 hours.
Came back to nice warm Hostel with a very friendly receptionist who swiftly booked me in.
The dorm room was great with plenty of room and only one other person staying in it.
The ablutions where great and very clean all the time I used them.
Nice breakfast with a good choice to start the day.
Overall, well impressed and will definitely be returning.
In a most spectacular location on the shores of England’s longest lake, Windermere, Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa is the Lake District’s first resort offering a number of facilities.

The staff was excellent—we espeicially loved Mel, part of the staff at the Winander breakfast.
Love Coniston, returning regularly. Plenty of interesting places to go nearby, great walks from here. Very good pubs and local shops. I ate in self catering flat. The lake is a must, self drive boats and charted trips. Ducks and swans, the amazing cafe by the lake seems to grow each year. I recall when it was a small green tin shack. You can walk round the village with ease. History is interesting.

There is much to enjoy at Coniston from local walks around the lake as well as trail walks and peak climbing, the local area is steeped in history and the village a joy to walk around.
The Ruskin Museum was very interesting and provided an appreciation for past historical local identity and future opportunities, the entrance fee was more than reasonable and the information relating to Coniston of greater appreciation for its significance throughout the Lake District.

Beautiful area, lots of paths for hiking, if you are prepared for bad weather.
There is a little convenience store in the village with everything you could ever need, the staff are very welcoming and friendly.
Coppermines were interesting and a wonderful venue for a wedding.

A day was enough to fit in a trip on the lake, the Ruskin Museum and the array of shops.
Don't go looking for Donald Campbell's grave in the church cemetery, it's in the village cemetery off Hawkshead Old Road.
Didn't do any walking or drive to other villages, but it would be a good base location for this.

Coniston is a beautiful town.
Coniston is a beautiful town. I have been visiting since I was a teenager. You are never far from breathtaking walks in fabulous scenery. My favourite walks in the area would be Tilberthwaite, Hodge Close, towards Tarn How's, towards the Langdales, and of course around on on the Coniston Water itself. Coniston Water is one of my favourite of the Lakes. There is so much going on and to do, but it never seems too busy. It is a very pretty lake, whatever the time of year but especially magical in the winter snow or at sunset. The cafes and pubs are of Coniston are some of my favourites in the district - the Black Bull and The Ship and Herdwick's in particular. I have stayed in many places in the town: I have never once been disappointed wherever I have stayed. Coniston is a town but has the charm of a village - not too commercial, but catering to many needs.
