We wanted a romantic weekend away, visiting the waterfalls at Devils Bridge and the Red Kite feeding centre at Bwlch Nant yr Arian.
We returned via the mountain pass road that led us to the Elan Valley and reservoirs which was awesome
We will probably return so we can ride on the Vale of Rheidol Steam Railway

A great area to enjoy the magnificent scenery and mountains of this part of Wales. The falls were in full flow and were really good to see and the walks at the nearby Hafod Estate, were varied for all types of walkers

Two levels of walks round the Falls, the short walk is obviously less intense and good for doing if you have caught the train from Aberystwyth and need to get back. The longer Falls walk is so scenic it is worth doing and taking your time, though is a tough walk.
The Bridges can be seen from both walks, shops and staff friendly and helpful. Gifts, ice creams, drinks and chocolate available.

The site is challenging for our age ( 60 's ) but we enjoyed the excercise. Plenty of resting seats on the way up the falls. We liked the shape of the surrounding rocks that the water had carved out. Glad we made the effort at the top we sat and had a drink outside The Hafod Hotel . Later bought chocolate from the Chocolate Shop. We caught the steam train to Aberystwyth and back . Unfortunately we had to stay on the train as there was no later train return. We travelled first class to give ourselves a treat, the train journey is expensive but we enjoyed wewon't need to do that again. The food at the Hafod Hotel was good, well presented and tasty. You can sit inside or out. My husband enjoyed the lager Carling said it was a great pint. Plenty of walking routes. A nice cafe at the train station.

Small but equipped with everything (except a corkscrew) we needed. Lovely view from the lounge area. Saw numerous red kites circling on the ridge. Was actually nice and quiet even though some building work was going on just up the road.
Easy walk to a hotel/restaurant/bar.
Lengthy interesting walks to be had without driving
Lovely welcome...with everything fully explained and a cake! Cosy, with everything you need for a wholesome weekend. Adults and kids both had a fantastic weekend. Hot tub was a massive hit! 20min drive to Aberystwyth. Devils Bridge minutes away.
