The property and location are fabulous. The staff and owners are super friendly and helpful. They even had a little goodie bag for our dog which is a great touch.

The location was incredible plenty of scenic trails nearby. The lodge was very cozy, clean and the bed was very comfortable. Having the hot tub there for the end of our day was just perfect

I like Gatehouse of fleet, there is a lovely walk and Carstramon woods is stunning , however on a recent previous visit we were unable to get a jacket potato for my lunch in either of the cafes'. So we headed over to Kirkcudbright for lunch where we were looked after at lunch time.
Some of the shops are lovely.
I understand there are a couple of Very good hotels in town for overnight stays.
However the Cally Palace Hotel is very disappointing now that is under new ownership, which is a shame as it used to great.

Food was much better than last year, new chef, I think.
Food was much better than last year, new chef, I think. I love the hotel and have stayed many times before. This time I was in a single room, but felt that the room needed an update, and the beds need upgrading as they are old. The rest of my stay was lovely and these things will not stop me from going back. The staff are so friendly and helpful.

swimng pool freezing - sauna not in use - disabled access to pool area impossible - disabled access to reception very poor and bedroom access via a timber steep ramp and external path very unacceptable in cold weather!

Gatehouse is a very pretty little place and evidently brilliant for walking and visiting the beautiful countryside. The Masonic arms is a great hotel/pub, very friendly and comfortable. So glad we picked it from the pack.

The hotel is very comfortable, large rooms and a beautiful view. The staff were super friendly, made our puppy feel very welcome too. Delicious lunch and dinner. We would have loved to have stayed for longer.

Gatehouse of Fleet is a nice, quiet little town and a good location from which to explore Dumfries and Galloway. It is a small town so everywhere is walkable. There is an excellent visitor centre with historical exhibition, cafe, bookshop and art gallery. We ate at 2 of the pubs, the Murray Arms and the Masonic Arms and both were good. There are some lovely walks you can do from the town and it is right on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park.

Although this was a very last minute, one night only booking, and we didn't get to experience the full package right down to breakfast or dinner, the hotel 150% met our expectations. Room was spacious, clean with modern, also very clean bathroom.
Couldn't have asked for better. Will definitely book The Ship Inn again should we find ourselves in the area.
The property couldn't be better located placed - opposite a Spar, fab cafe and entrances to walks. Gatehouse of Fleet is a lovely town with more lovely restaurants/cafes than I imagined.
Potential visitors should note that the property has a large dual-aspect living/reception room with TV, fireplace and comfy seating which is not shown in the photos.
We only found out about hot alternatives such as poached eggs & porridge to the standard hot buffet breakfast from a guest. This was not highlighted when breakfast explained to us on the first morning giving the impression the hotel did it want u to know.
The lodge was beautiful and clean, and the views were stunning. Very peaceful and relaxing. Comfortable beds and a pretty well stocked kitchen. Gatehouse of Fleet is not far away, and the lodge is a great base for visiting towns nearby.
