We stayed in the character double room, and it was very charming and comfortable, with plenty of seating in addition to the bed. The inn is loaded with character and warmth! I'd stay here again if I had the opportunity!
Built in 1841, this Grade II listed building has retained many period features, with converted and tastefully furnished interiors creating the warm and friendly atmosphere.

Needed to be in Settle for a function elsewhere in the town. It suited us well for what we needed it for. Would have been nice to have stayed longer.

Lovely old Inn with stunning views, a microbrewery, award winning pies and beautiful walks straight from the door.
The Inn is in one of the quieter Dales down a single track road. There is ample parking outside. It has a beer garden and tables outside the front of the building. Best to book dinner as it is very popular and quite small inside.

It's over 20 years since my last visit, and now there is a much better range of accommodation to suit people's needs - camping, bunkhouses, pods, holiday homes and B&Bs. Most people we met were walkers, like ourselves, taking on some or all of the 3 peaks. I would have liked to have stayed longer and taken a train ride over the viaduct, and also done more walking on lesser-used paths. We ate in the Crown after our challenge walk and found the food and service to be great.

Horton in Ribblesdale is in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales and is a good launch pad for walks, trips and adventures. On the foot of Pen-y-ghent and has a couple of eating places but other places are available a short drive away. It is a small village though so not lots to do there within walking distance if you have a young family.

I've known the place for many years - mostly staying at the excellent campsite. Easy access on the Settle/Carlisle railway line. The village itself is very attractive, has 2 pubs, a campsite and a bunkhouse.
Pity the cafe died just before Covid, that was a fine place too. Leaving the place a bit short of places to resupply.

The pod was very well equipped and comfortable. The location was perfect for exploring the area. The host was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. It was very quiet and relaxing. The areas around the pods are generous and beautifully kept

A great base for walking in the dales- you climb Pen-y-Ghent or the full 3 peaks from the site. Local pubs for meals and drinks and a shop in the village for key bits with a bigger supermarket in settle. Ingleton for the waterfalls walk, visitor caves definitely worth a visit. Easy access to the settle Carlisle railway/ visiting ribblehead viaduct

Great for a relaxing weekend.
Great for a relaxing weekend. Small village with friendly people. A small shop/cafe/icecream. A train station for exploring the beautiful scenery, we travelled to Appleby over the Ribblehead viaduct. Lots of walks/footpaths through countryside short and long. Great location for three peaks challenge just next to Penyghent. Two pubs in village, the Golden Lion did excellent food. Nearest town is Settle about 10 mins away.
