Numerous great Victorian and earlier buildings including many significant late Victorian/ Edwardian houses. Well maintained railway station. My trip was only 47 minutes duration from leaving London St Pancras Manor House Museum and the neighbouring Alfred East Art Gallery are closed until some indeterminate time in the future. Neighbouring Library staff very helpful with information and supplying cards with QR codes to link with historic building information on internet. I attended an exhibition in the Arena which is a great venue.

I have known Kettering for many years so this review will not be helpful to other travellers because I do not know what they are looking for, but like so many places the facilities have declined in the last forty years.

We were not told that booking for dinner was essential.

We were not told that booking for dinner was essential. We arrived at the restaurant to be told that it was fully booked and there was nothing they could do. So, I ended up driving around Desborough at night in the rain searching for a pub. It was both dangerous and frustrating. I live in South Africa where they always make sure that an extra place is made in these circumstances. It's hard to believe how little we as guests were valued. MC

I had bed bugs in my bed.

I had bed bugs in my bed. They then moved me to another room that had not been cleaned from the last person who stayed. The 3rd room they took me to there blood all over the bathroom. I asked for my money back and they didn't want to. I got 30% back for one night.. i had no towls no cup for a drink.. i had to sit in reception from 2am till the morning till I could leave with no sorry. I would never stay again and I recommend nobody else does. This place need closing down!!!!

The staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to assist us. The room was lovely, and comfortable and we were able to get extra pillows very quickly! The cold water tap did not work, and corks not be fixed until Monday(2 nights had passed by then) because maintenance men do not work on weekends. My wife was not that happy with breakfast- as it was not always to her satisfaction, as the coffee went cold too quickly, and on one occasion the fried egg was burnt. The evening meal was ok-ish, but had the same (limited) menu each night! Her steak had to be sent back as it was was inedible for her. When we had food from the bar, we ordered a bottle of wine. On one occasion we were advised that there was a similar wine available which may be preferable. Unfortunately we were not advised of the massive hike in price - £37.60 - until we had the bill!! On the same floor as our room there were a group of very noisy women celebrating a 30th birthday. They were extremely loud in the dining room, and continued being so well after midnight. They showed no respect for others at all. When we asked about dress code for evening meal, we were told “ smart casual” . However when a large group of workers arrived on Sunday night- they wore anything but smart clothes!! All the staff were very accommodating, and went out of their way to be helpful.

Kettering is sufferingike many small towns, so many empty shops but there are some gems like The bean at the Hive and Vintage Fleur and some very nice places to eat on the Market Place Keno Lounge and Jurassic Grill.

The property was amazing, all facilities were included. The location is great near the town centre, slightly away form Kettering hospital and the railway station. there were kettle, microwave, gas hob, oven, laundry machine, iron, spoons, knifes, plates, dishes, glasses, heaters, wifi router, TV. Water power was fine. Windows can be opened fully for ventilation. the space was OK for one or two persons

It was seized by the police, 2 hrs before our journey, due to a cannabis growth at the property, from the tenant before us. We were put in other accommodation, but it was small, and so was the shower, also disappointed with the mth. We wanted kettering for lots of reasons thats why we bkd it. Staff were gd, but it was very noisey where we were. This also upset my dog...

This whole hotel and stay was simply lovely - the grounds are beautiful, as is the spa area. It manages to feel very chilled yet also very lush. We didn’t dine but breakfast was stunning and Rachel Ross who served us both days was the best server or staff I’ve ever encountered!!

I always look at the cleanliness of the shower room extractor fan grill. In other hotels despite the the area may be clean they grill is full with soggy dirt. Barton Hall's was really clean. Thank you Housekeeping team
